Taping Cable Outers to Handlebars

Hi all, I’m installing some new sti levers on my drop bar bike. When I removed the factory handlebar tape I noticed the brake/gear cable housing underneath was secured to the handlebars with what looked like sellotape.

Whenever I’ve done this before I’ve just used electrical tape to secure the cable outers. What does everyone here use?

Electrical tape.

It doesn't matter. It will all be held in place with the bar tape. I've used both the above plus masking tape and duct tape. (not all at once I hasten to add, although that would also be fine).

The thinner the better to avoid unsightly bulges, I use splicing tape (filched from working at a printers many years ago)

I use duck tape. It’s a bit more durable than sellotape and electrical tape, and sticks better ( IMO).

It doesn't matter as it is only a temporary measure till you apply the bar tape, as long as it holds till then you're ok.
