Bloody hell! That's nearly 200 miles a week! How the flippity blumen blasty heck do get time to that?

I'm actually averaging about 260 per week right now. Daily commutes, taking the extended route home tend to yield around 25 - 30 miles and I do around 70 on Saturday and 60 on Sunday. I try not to let life get in the way of bike rides, if at all possible

This is the first year I have recorded my mileage.

conversations would occur about mileage and it was embarrasing to admit I didnt really know. I used to guess I did about 5000 / year so started keeping a record on Jan 1st this year.Looks like it will be closer to 4000 than 5000.

My commute is only 2.5 miles each way so the majority is leisure riding eg audaxing, solo rides, group rides, forum meet ups etc.

I will meet my target of 10000 miles for 2012.
I'm currently on 9097miles.
5236 are commuting miles, 4 days a week.
The rest are leisure miles.

My other targets were
12x FNRttC's which I will do on the November ride to Brighton.
30x 100+ milers. I am on 23 for the year so far so have a few to go between now and the end of the year.

I was initially looking at 12000 miles for the year but a knee injury back in March meant I was off the bike for 3 weeks which was a good 600+ miles gone. The weather has meant a good few cancelled rides also so revised it back to 10000.

2012 will be the 4th year in a row I have reached 10000 miles.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Made 5000 miles my target again this year (missed it by 7 miles last year!). Should make it well over 4000 this weekend, but lost a few weeks' miles due to Angioplasty and 2 new stents, installed 6 weeks ago. Back to over 100 miles a week, but don't think I will quite get there again this year .

In between here and there
My target back in Jan was 6000, I have hit that, my Garmin stats for 365 days are 7100 I reckon 7300 for the year.

Next year my target is to do more social riding at weekends, 95% of my miles are my commute..

My Roubaix has just past 10000 miles, which even with the parts has more than paid me back.

You mean to tell me that you couldn't summon the energy to go out for a 7 miler on New Year's Eve? That would do my head in

My target was to ride at least 50 miles each month on my good bike, purely leisure rides.
This is very easy in the summer months but does the job of encouraging me out when the weather's not so good.
Looking at other people's targets I'm slightly embarrassed in being pleased I'm on for such a small target

I'm on target this year, but I didn't start counting until March, so my year ends in the middle of March 2013. I have lost two stone though, which is a bit more than I intended.

my target was 4,000 miles. I've done 3,745 to date. I should get the remaining 255 miles in by the end on November.

My target back in Januray (whilst in Greece) was to be in New Zealand for for my birthday at the end of the year. A pack of dogs changed that in February.
March saw a revised target to get back on my bike - I have managed that one with 3 short rides in April whilst still needing crutches to walk!

In July I set myself a target of reaching 1,500km by the end of the year. I should reach 1,000km this weekend. I honestly don't know if I will make the target of 1,500km by the end of December; I still can't manage more than 32 miles solo in a single ride.
October was my best month so far with 383km, so all I really need to do is maintain that... finger's crossed.

7,300 target - 20 miles for every day of the year, plus the century a month challenge. Just passed 7,000 miles, so target easily in reach, and am still in the hunt for the century a month gold star. I also managed to put on a stone in weight, although that wasn't a target!

Don't be embarrassed, everyone is in different circumstances, health/family responsibilities/work/age etc. etc.. I find that setting a target does give me the incentive to go out for some exercise when otherwise I might not bother, but you don't have to disclose your target to anyone:thumbsup:
Just get out there and enjoy your cycling:smile:.

Shocking isn't it? I did do the Club Saturday morning ride on New Year's Eve (27.61 miles, I see from the diary). At that time I was checking my distances using BikeHike, not using a bike computer, so it wasn't until too late that I realised (that's my excuse anyway!). Now I use a Sigma computer which I have set up as accurately as possible - wheel diameter to the mm, etc,etc - and I have a suspicion that my last years' distance calculations were actually fractionally under - 0.1% maybe? That would give me a total of 5042.93, so I am not too disappointed.
( - and I did turn up in the freezing cold on New Year's Day for the annual Club 1km Time Trial too ......... more than many would have done, I suspect ).

Now I like this. This seems to me an achievable goal; 20 a day plus a ton in a month, that has got to be do-able for most people hasn't it?
