Yes please. Still feeling off-colour from the last couple of days. Tea is an entirely suitable medicine. MrWC is run off his feet business-wise at the moment so he doesn't have the time to so much as break wind never mind make a cuppa. Anode has laid a beautiful large egg this morning. Cathode is still thinking about whether or not to produce. Campag has produced a perfect little brown egg and Nolo has produced two softies, one complete but the shell not properly formed (like sand stuck to the membrane) and another origami-egg where the egg and shell are competely separate, the main egg broken and the shell neatly folded alongside. Naughty Campag started to eat the origami shell. I'm hoping I've broken her of starting the habit of being an egg-eater..

Here you go sorry every one else has eaten all the biscuits

That's OK. I have loads of leftover cake from the funeral I went to yesterday. At least some good comes out of these occasions.

Go on then I could do with a brake.

Is Campag getting enough grit? I only ask because she may not be getting enough in her diet. We had to feed ours broken up oyster shells to keep their egg shells solid. (Mind you, that was a garden in west London, not the country.)

[Nods over the teacup knowingly]

She is now. I only got her at the weekend (she's an ex-batt). Both she and Nolo (also an ex-batt) are requiring of building up to full fitness. It's not going to happen overnight. They get extra calcium on their food and have unlimited access to grit.

Good good, we had no idea you had to feed them that kind of stuff when we first got some hens. Weird. We used to pin down a black bin bag on the soil at the back of the garden then take it up once a week so they could get at all the slugs, worms and woodlice underneath. Delicious!
