Time for tea, any choc hobnobs left? No, just a load of crumbs

I saw some Snowballs (cakes) yesterday, but then realised it is too late to give them to the Moomins, they have already left and are travelling northwards for the early Finnish spring. BJB can obviously move about more easily now, and wizzes along on his bicycle unencumbered by lumbering (in the nicest possible way) Moomins.

Cheers matey;)

Their space tourism vehicle looks no end like a small business jet with a rocket at the rear end. Still, I gave up worrying what the climate change bods said about space travel when they pointed out the mass of fumes from the main engines of the Shuttle, and how this was really really bad.
That's fumes of hydrogen burnt in oxygen, mostly. Or steam.

*envisages space shuttle as multimillion pound high-speed kettle*

Ah yes. Like they always show the cooling towers of powerstations, to illustrate pollution on the news...

You really should read that Backroom Boys book, chapters in there on the British rocket projects, Blue Streak and Black Arrow, and on poor Beagle. BTW, did everyone know, there's a British satellite, launched by British rocket, from Woomera in the 70's( I think)?, still orbiting the planet....

Ey up all! I've been catching up on the thread, back in York. Feeling a bit soporific - got the train back this morning and went straight to the pub at lunchtime, as it would have been my Tom's birthday today and a couple of folk wanted to meet for a memorial drink. So a pint at lunchtime, which always makes me drowsy. I'm off in a bit to one of the regular departmental talks - it better be interesting, or I'll be asleep! Need tea to keep me awake, but the refectory is shut now, and there's only a machine, which makes awful tea! Have to make do with hot chocolate. Did you finish all the chocolate suggestive biscuits?

Welcome back, Arch!

*offers tea to Arch and Spiecher, offers round home made chocolate rice crispy cakes*

Well, just got in from the interview. It seemed to go well, but one never can tell. You know an interview went well at the point when they offer you a job, and not before. It was well worth going anyway, if only to see satellites and such like in a state of construction. I've never seen so much carbon and titanium in my life.

Hope things are OK for you Arch - must be a difficult time, this.

Arrived in Bakewell in 1hr 40mins from Sheffield, thats with two stops and one bit of walking to wake the legs up a bit.
Now drinking tea and chillin', who's for a cuppa then?

Sending virtual hugs and best wishes to you Arch.
How was the interview Doctor?

The ride was good, always lovely to cycle somewhere away from London streets.
The hills not as bad as I had expected but I did chicken out and bring the MTB as I really don't know these roads.
Next time I will definately bring the trike.

*offers Spiecher scone in shape of greater stellated dodecahedron, out of pure awkwardness;)*

There you go Speicher, have fun getting some clotted cream on that!

*breaks point off and spreads jam and cream on base*

*realises that as challenges go, this one isn't too tricky*

Can I offer you a glass of anything?

So..? Uhmm... *coughs* *coughs again* that happened to you too?:thumbsdown:

I've had to rescue Chuffy from the tea cupboard before, he'd been in there for ages and claimed to be being harassed by Wombles!
And The Doctor hadn't been plying him wiv booze either!

Fear not BJB we did try and preserve your modesty with a tea towel, for what it's worth.
