congrats doc , satellite work ? interesting stuff , mapping or data or can't you say . good luck , think of you when I look up at the sky . QUICK SLURP tea coaster over mug then it doesn't go cold .

Not data or anything like that, it's testing the actual hardware before it goes up. Checking the electronics, applying forces to the body of the thing and measuring the distortion with strain gauges, that sort of thing. I'm hoping to be testing the thrusters too, so it genuinely will be rocket science.

And thanks again for the kind words, everyone. As a dedicated science, technology, engineering and 'hard' science fiction fan, I can't think of anything I'd rather do than work in the space industry. Well, except maybe work with Scotty and Geordi LaForge, but that's a way off yet!

Mrs TS is baking a chocolate cake, just been licking the icing mix off the whisk, yummy. Need a cuppa to wash it down so kettle's on.

Dunno what the Doctors going to be doing, but I live in hope that one day, one day, a British made probe will land on Mars, a hatch will open, a small robot vehicle will emerge, and with great ceremony and extending gadget arms, cover the nearest suitably sized rock with a knitted teacosy, into which wil be stitched a small label bearing the words "Made by Arch"...

...and congrats to Doc

I have a deep need for tea. Gardening has occurred this afternoon and Chuffy and I are now crawling around looking like Quasimodo's stunt doubles.

Gardening? You can come and do mine if you want. I froze today. Stood at the side of the road in a Suffolk village in howling wind, sleet, rain, sleety-rain, the odd bit of the white stuff and did I mention the wind... watching The Apprentice in a time trial. On the plus side, came home to a leg of lamb smothered in rosemary & thyme that had been in a slow oven for many hours, so the meat was incredibly tender and juicy. I feel as if I am still thawing out.
