Oh god... I was 9. I don't know why I'd always assumed you were older than me FM, but....

I feel old now...

I was also living in a beautiful country, albeit one a little more afflicted by violence - Northern Ireland... Must get back there on bike sometime.

Don't feel old Arch; by 1978 I was already married and kissing goodbye to my 20s -that's old!

If you ever make it back to NI I'll ride round the Ards peninsula with you.

Commiserations Arch! Very sorry to hear you are stuck with takeaway tea.

Just got a message from a colleague written in Swedish (which I'm slowly learning). Pretty sure it says "I want a beer!", so with any luck I'll be taking myself away soon!

It's not bad tea, it's from the refectory, and in a paper cup at least, not plastic or polystyrene.

Enjoy your beer! When my housemate was learning Swedish, he used to practise on me (not that I speak Swedish, so not sure what it acheived...) and one of the phrases I came to understand (but can't remember now) was "Shall we have a cup of tea?" The other, which I do remember was "fisk pinnar" or "fish fingers"...

Mmmm, fish fingers... Went into a pub on Sunday and thought, oooh, what's that great smell of food, and then realised it was a kid having fish fingers and chips. I'm such a gourmet...

It's my authoritative (err... apparently 'pompous') manner! I am actually younger, sillier (and more modest) in real life.

And as others have already said, you are hardly old!

I am going to knock off early tonight to go to see Wall-E with my wife...

Supposed to be a great film, that.

Has anyone seen batman The Dark Knight yet?

Yeah, I've heard great stuff about Wall-E. Might well go to see it, even if it means going alone...

Not so bothered by Batman - but then my rate of cinema consumption is about one film very two years at the moment...

On the plus side, I don't appear to have third degree burns from the tea spillage....

*Old git voice* I remember I was 12 back in the year of our Lord 1978...

Had a late night last night so in need of a decent brew. Can't believe were were snogging in the car under a street lamp for over an hour through midnight. (yawns)

Oooh, you're just showing off you are!

Good on ya!

FM, having seen 300 on DVD, I'm hoping to also see the spoof, Meet the Spartans, which looked even funnier from the clip I saw...

We watched 300 in a group of about 6 at a mate's house and there was one woman insisted we ought to be listening instead of taking the piss or we'd miss plot details. Plot?
