I would *love* to be able to fly. Or be invisible...
Time travel would be handy too. I could avoid all the mistakes I made, all the times I hurt people...

Afternoon all!

Talking of flights in small planes, I recommend Papay to Westray, the shortest scheduled flight in the world. NO time to be scared, you're barely up before you're down again. About 90 seconds the time I did it.

On the other hand, if you remember about the fact that the most dangerous bits of any flight being the landing and take off, there isn't any in between bit on this flight....

So, what ARE we building, I'm getting confused. If it's a boat, I have a head start, as I've built a boat before. Anything else and I'll have to act in the capacity of spanner hander-overer...

I too have boat building experience and make a good grease monkey.
We are building a carbon flying boat powered by a Merlin or Chieftain tank engine by the sounds of it??!!

For tips on how to build a boat plane look here.

Tea up!

OK, a carbon flying boat, with a Merlin engine, and optional helicopter add on.

We're going to need:

a lot of carbon fibre
a Merlin engine
some propellors
some rotor blades
some nuts and bolts and glue and gaffer tape
a big shed, preferably with a slipway to some water
a very big teapot and a super huge tin of biscuits.

Bring your own mug, overalls, stub of pencil etc..

Ahh, t'is the quiet time on the forum, between 1800hrs & 2000hrs.
I sit with my tea, close my eyes and imagine all the forummers on their different commutes and getting home after a long day, some are preparing their dinners, others putting their kids to bed.
I hear the sup of well deserved cups of tea and the cracking of cans of celebratory ale.;)

Maker of Things
I'm game for a build (if I can find the time). I have built a six wheel drive truck in the past, designing and building all the transmission and suspension. I can work wonders with engines and gear boxes and, of course, timber framing.

I also have a lot of Lego Technic.

Anyone got any Mechano that could be used?

Sadly not. If we could use bits of aluminium honeycomb, I can pull some out of the skip at work. I am currently collecting the stuff to make a carbon and honeycomb desk tidy. Although I like the idea of a carbon saddlebag or set of panniers.
