I have been busy this week. I had an interview at the Library on Tuesday. I think they were unsuccessful. I was asked to attend for 9.15am and to be there ten minutes early. Fair enough, but they did not open the Library doors until 9.10 ish. While waiting, I could easily hear a long conversation about people who were Relief Staff from other branches, and how they were three staff short that day.
When I left at 10.30 they still had 8 people to interview before lunch?
Met one of the other candidates. A student studying English, who has previous Work Experience in a much larger Library.

So, if I took a job there on Saturdays, who would find the time for any training? Answer: says I - no-one. I would spend all day issuing books.
I am sure I can find a more interesting job somewhere else. They have a review coming up in January (which year do they get the result :sad:). Please note slight air of sarcasm.

I am returning as a Volunteer at the Environment Centre tomorrow. Helping with the accounts etc. They, for some reason, lost lots of Volunteers recently. Are they thinking of employing someone instead?
Shall I ask the Part-time Admin Person at the Resource Centre how he carved out a job for himself under the "New Deal" scheme, whereby employers get financial incentives to create new jobs?

Failing that the Oxfam manager needs Office help, and Marie Curie Cancer Care are desperate for admin people. Choices, choices. "Softly softly catch the monkey".

Employers often seem to forget that it's not just them checking us out...

And yes, it's always worth going for a position that doesn't actually exist yet. There'll be less competition that way.

;)

The part-time admin person at the Resource Centre managed it. His employer did not seem to mind that he did all the research etc, and legwork, as it were. I cannot even get in contact with anyone at the Employment office, to see if they could discuss meeting to discuss if they could help me, and I do not want to be sent just any old place.
I know the Co-ordinator that I will be working with tomorrow, well enough to start asking the right questions in a few weeks, months etc. They might decide to make it a Casual post until they get other volunteers, they have a Casual person on Saturdays, and he is very dedicated, not "casual" at all.

I would be wary of the New Deal, Speicher. I can ask two people I know who set up their own placements how they did it if you like. You have to remember that although some people set up their own placements which is great, it is to be contrasted with the various bizarre schemes you get forced put on if you don't in some circumstances...

I presume the doughnuts (sp) were my favourite sort - hot and fresh and sprinkled with cinnamon.:ohmy:

"Hot, fresh and sprinkled with cinnamon"... That's given me ideas ;)

I like Scarborough, just the right level of proper seaside tat. And those pusher machines in the arcades that take 2p pieces, so you can gamble like mad and only lose 50p...

We also found an ideal ride for the denziens of Tea? to go on:

Also a heffalump/train hybrid:

And some suitable transport home:

Alas, we couldn't get into it, so had to get the train back instead. However, peering through the window, we could see that it did actually have a phone inside!

It was good on Sunday - mostly great weather, looks of happy folk out enjoying themselves etc...

I have to say, who was it invented the idea of selling rock or other sweets in the shape of genitals? There were a lot of rather embarassing shop windows!;)

Could have been the 'tinkle of glass' in certain circumstances...luckily you're a 'brick' Arch - and you resisted the temptation to hurl yourself through one...

No, I have to say I have no desire whatsoever for confectionary in the shape of gentials - especially when the items in question have faces on them! Just too wierd!

The Elephant/Train is too bizarre it's just simply wrong, wrong, wrong.

IvC, I've not been to Sacrborough for nigh on 6 years so I cannot say for certain they still do the Naval Display.
I hope they do, it's a classic! I couldn't stop laughing for hours afterwards.

I'll never view the Northern Convoy in the same way again.
