Someone I knew liked it so much they described it as a "garden twine" taste.

Just as well, I suppose. They'd only nick the ingredients for your world-famous Sage and Shrew stuffing. *passes large steamy mug to Waffles*

Huzza for random diagnosis and the return of Tdr1nka!

Ta.

I have been shopping whilst MrW was at an appointment. I have some Stinking Bishop to try.

I have in front of me.

Stinking Bishop (and boy it does hum... even though the name refers to the variety of pear that makes the perry the cheese is washed in)

Walsingham (a Norfolk cheese)

Wells Alpine (a Norfolk cheese)

Montgomery Cheddar (from Somerset)

Reviews:-

1. Stinking Bishop. Two bites is entirely sufficient. It is very, very strong in taste as well as very highly whiffy. MrW doesn't like it at all - but he ate the rind. I cut the rind off and just ate the soft middle. I think it may actually go well with a dessert pear - a small square of the soft cheese with a dessert pair could go well I think. It isn't going to be a regular purchase though.

2. Walsingham. Made near Walsingham in Norfolk. A pale coloured, pressed cheese. Like a softer cheddar in texture. Not as crumbly as a Cheshire. Taste a bit like Wensleydale. Rather nice. I'd buy this one again. Would be good in a traditional ploughman's lunch.

3. Wells Alpine. Glorious. Flavoursome. Nutty. Good pressed cheese texture. I'll definitely be buying this one again. I think it would probably be good in cooking too.

4. Montgomery Cheddar. A good mature but not overly strong cheddar. I'd buy it again.

Of the four I tried, the Wells Alpine comes out on top, followed by the Walsingham, then the Montgomery Cheddar and I'm afraid the Stinking Bishop comes bottom of the heap.

Woodyabelieeeeeeeve it?
Back in London 5 mins and things are going screwy already.
All todays plans have now been moved to tomorrow.

Royal Mail tried to deliver my new rear light this morning @ 5:45!!!
Knackered after yesterday I didn't hear the door and to make matters worse they didn't put a 'failed delivery' notice thru my door!

I only found out when I tracked the package thru the shipping company, which was then too late to get to the sorting office which closed at 1300.

The other plan was to put down the deposit on my instructor training but the person I need to see isn't in till tommorow.

Grrrrrrrr.

This now means tomorrow I have to get to the Post Office @ 8, get Clarty Hack to Brixton cycles for the express fitting of a new drive train before 9, and then get to CTUK and put down the deposit on my training.

I had hoped I would ease myself back into London life but I don't think that's gonna happen somehow?!

I require, nay, demand Tea!!!xx(
