The weather here in Northern Finland has been pretty awesome for the past few weeks. Got lots of cycling in. But as I'm just 75km from the Arctic Circle and the far North of Finland got their first snowfall earlier this week, it won't last.

Evenings!
Dinner at DoctorTowers this fine evening was Ceasar salad with added olives, a jolly good burger in a tiger roll with decent cheddar, and pineapple. Plus some grape juice. South African shiraz grapes, they were. First 2008 wine I've had.
And only 6 weeks or so till the Beaujolais Nouveau appears...

Did I miss the bit where you told us what flavour Smurf ice cream was. I learnt today, that pumpkins are also available in blue. But somehow pumpkin icecream seems a contradiction in terms. Is there any other flavour that can be soup as well as icecream?

Check out my new sig line, Speicher.
I have to say, I was disappointed. I missed out on tiramasu icecream (not to mention 9 variations on chocolate) to get blue vanilla.

How on earth do you get that colour from Vanilla?

Yesterday I had to do some taste testing. A cola that is, I think, organic?
It tasted nice, but was not very fizzy. That's because they leave out the phosphates or similar. It was not a true taste test, as there was no ice and lemon.

Also taste tested the FreeTrade hot chocolate powder. I needed to taste test it, as the instructions say three to four heaped teaspoons, so in the interests of taste and economy at the Pumphouse, I tried making it with three. Also had to explain to someone where to find the duck food, as they are given special seedy stuff, not stale buns etc. You may be able to tell from this, that I had an extremely challenging afternoon.
(I did do some "proper" work as well).

Morning!

It's chucking it down here at Chez Wafflycat. Positively torrential out there. Still had to go out and see to the hens though. It's days like this I am rather pleased that the accommodation I got them has a roof over the run. They stay dry even in weather like this. Cats fed, open fire in the grate in the lounge roaring for warmth, and I've had a bowl of cornflakes and I am now in need of a cup of tea. MrW is still snoring.

Morning!

No more dead things in the house this morning!
I was woken by the rain at around 3 this morning, it was chucking bleedin' stair rods!

Only prob is the gas meter ran out of money in the night so I ran myself a stone cold bath.

Thats £35 in gas in one fortnight only running the central heating to dry washing.

Ech! That's not nice.
Again? Does this happen often?

Oh yes - due to crap (hahahaha) design of main sewer through the village. It happens at least once a year, sometimes more often & I have to phone the water company to tell them. Have to go through the same stuff with them every time - if it's your sewer madam, you'll have to pay... and everytime I have to point out that no, it's due to the design of their sewer, having a low point under the stream in the village and then the sewer goes *up* rather than down. My house happens to be about the lowest point on the sewer network, so I spot the problem a matter of hours before it overflows. And everytime they say, as it hasn't overflowed *yet* we can't guarantee we'll be out before it overflows... So far, possibly because I start off polite and then chase up and become more and more politely irate, they manage to get it sorted each time. But one would have thought that this is such a regular occurance, that I really shouldn't have to go through the same hassle every time... The guys who come out to deal with the problem are always polite and always get a cup of tea & biccies, but the phone staff it initially gets reported to are not exactly inspiring of confidence.
