not much, apart from that it involved cooking (usually cakes) and sewing (very little as it never really worked out). The teachers in sewing were usually very frustrated women and i remember i did once get snapped at for calling it 'sewing', despite that fact that it WAS, in fact, very much along the lines of 'sewing', since the main activity consisted of - yep, you guessed it - sewing. "It's textiles, NOT sewing!"

I was planning to go for a walk on the Malverns today. Then tea and cake (or scone) at a Tea Shop called "The Kettle Sings". This plan was amended by the cats and dogs outside. The cat inside is asleep in the chair.

Do any of you infernal combustion engine peeps know what a "compression ratio" is with reference to a diesel engine. (in easy/peasy terminalology please) Thank you.

Some cars have a ratio 9.5 to 1, and others 18 to 1, what does this mean, does it affect the acceleration, fuel consumption or something else?

I have retorted to answering my own question
It means that if you are going at a steady velocity and want to accelerate super quickly, you can. A compression ratio of 18.1 is miles better accelerating-wise, than 9.5 to 1. There is a remote possibility of detonation, the pistons, not the whole car.
