The answer to will I have eggs tomorrow is "I might"
With ex-batts straight from the factory farm, they are 'egged-out' from a commercial POV, but still have many an egg left to lay over many a year with TLC and luck. As they are straight from the factory, so to speak, they can still be in laying 'mode' and I might just get an egg or two over the weekend. BUT, they then go into recovery mode and their little bods concentrate on regrowing lost feathers, putting on weight and generally getting fitter again. When that happens they are likely to stop laying whilst that's going on. Once they're back up to health, they then start laying again. The frequency & amount of laying varies from hen to hen.
So mine are viewed as pets, and with TLC & luck I may be rewarded with a supply of eggs sufficient for my needs
