Are you keeping a photographic record of every egg laid? Make sure you caption eanch one with date and time laid, maybe also the weather conditiaon prevalent and so on, and you have the basis for a really dull fascinating talk for the local WI...;)

I think if I had chickens and they wanted breakfast at 5am, I'd organise a chicken flap, and fox proof tunnel into the kitchen and they could darn well fetch their own!

heh... I can see why I may be coming across as ever so slightly obsessive about this hen & egg thing :biggrin:

I'm keeping pics of these early eggs and which hen laid them (when I can tell which one laid which egg), just out of curiosity. They're my first hens and first eggs! :wacko: I think I may stop taking pics after... oohh... a year or so ;)

As for getting up early - I don't have a real problem with it. I was one of those kids who never had a problem gettiing up for school. Even then, I could easily wake at five in the morning. Good job too, as I had to get my own breakfast & get myself ready for school. My mother always prepared my brother's breakfast and I had to do my own. And getting up early to hear the dawn chorus and see the sun ride is actually quite lovely. Mind you, in the middle of winter when it's cold & it's p!$$!ng down is an entirely different matter.

That would be great! They would eat all the crumbs that accumulate around the toaster!;)

Oh, I quite see why you'd take pics - I would! I mean, they're sort of like grandchildren (only you eat them). No, I was just amusing myself at the idea of a really dull talk... *adopt whiney nasal dull voice* "And this is Cathode's 18th egg, you can see that it's a slightly lighter brown than the 17th, although this might be due to the camera settings...."

The trouble with powerpoint is you don't even have the chance that one slide might be upside down for light relief. In fact I've thought it would be fun to do that deliberately, stick a photo in upside down...;)

Genius! The ultimate in sustainability and recycling - toast crumbs making eggs to have with your toast...:wacko:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just imagined a TV police drama with all parts played by ducks!

THE BILL!!

:wacko::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

I've got an image of two ducks walking slowly down the street away from the camera to the theme from The Bill in my head now, thanks!

Or even further back, police drama starring all fish: Z-Carp.
