Taking the biscuit
I need tea. 2 more hours to wait for the mayoral result. I'm disturbingly agitated by the prospect of having a Mayor Boris.:biggrin:xx(

2 hours? Who said it'd be done then? Not that I particularly want to get the thread onto politics as it's been a knackering week at work. Tea is definitely needed. Any good plans for this weekend out there?

Ah yes... Boris as mayor...

*points and laughs in direction of London*

It'll be the one crumb of comfort to Gordon Brown.

Boris being Boris for the next couple of years will provide Misery-guts Broon with the ideal opportunity to point out all of the likely forthcoming gaffs from the London Mayor's office to say to the electorate

[John Laurie as Frazer in Dad's Army]

"That'll be wit ye get if ye vote for the Conservatives.. Buffoons! You're all doomed... aye!"

[/John Laurie as Frazer in Dad's Army]

Boris being Boris will provide ample opportunity for Cameron to woe the day Boris got in, disown Boris and try to insist that really, the Conservatives aren't like Boris at all, even though Boris was the offical candidate.

Just think of the opportunities for national frivolity with Boris when the Olympics come to town!

Just think of Boris being the host to many an important figure on the international stage that visits our capital over the next however many years he's in charge as the mayor of the nation's capital city...

Of course, Boris could confound all expectations and be a perfect mayor. Or Boris could just carry on being the Boris he has always been in public life.

Edit: adds... Ah well. Boris as mayor. National arse. I require a cup of tea.

I'm just sick of these elections being more like 'Mayor Factor', 'Tonights contestants are, Ken; an amphibian loving baby father with flexible allegiances, Boris; the loveable oaf who wants it to be just like the old days and Brian; he was a gay policeman who told Lambeth to chill wiv da spliff etc etc etc etc.

Sorry, I did ranted.

Have you fitted the new pedals marinyork?

I got them fitted but the back wheel needed truing which delayed things a couple of days. Now all is in order but I couldn't find a set of shoes I liked so will have to work on that over the coming days. I think even the platform side was better than the old ones tbh, some benefit there anyway, but the difficulty I even had getting the right side with flats does have me worried about the SPDs.

When your bike is just stood, do the pedals hang down with the
platform side facing to the front? I find only need flip the pedal forward to engage the cleat or flip the pedal back to use the platform, this has taken some practice I might add!

Or alternatively, makes you heave just thinking about it . I'll stick with tea...or rather raspberry beer at the moment xx(.

TheDoctor have you got a support person/s or vehicle for your conquering of Mont Ventoux? When you say "trek down to" is that because you are driving down?

I hope you have a wonderful time, and good weather. xx(

Cheers Speicher:biggrin:. We're actually going on that TGV. An easy way of getting there, but it takes a little while. And yes, I'll have a support person along. I don't expect to be in serious difficulty though, and if I am, I'll leave it for another time. It's not going anywhere, after all.

Raspberry beer? Blech! Whiskey, slice of lemon, maybe a clove or two, bit of hot water. It's good on a cold night, or a night when you've got a cold.
Anyway, each to their own. Just done some rather nice Seth Effrican Shiraz with roast lamb, so I'm feeling happy. All packed, and hot to trot...
