Reading John Wyndham books was one of the things that has lead to a life-long love of British Sci-fi.

Make sure you read her 'The Kraken Wakes' and 'The Chrysalids' The latter is my favourite Wyndham book.

T'was funny 'cos Mrs tdr1nka has been given the BBC TV drama version of 'Day' and I felt she should get to know the book before watching it.

It has been a personal favourite since my early teens and it is always a, if somewhat stark and grisly, joy to read.
I was also strangely reminded of Aldus Huxley's 'Brave New World' by the windfarms we saw on the journey to Ireland.

I have read only 'The Crysalids' and 'Trouble With Lichen' of Wyndhams, besides 'Triffids' of course.

Arthur C Clarke was another brilliant writer. 2001 is one of my favourite books. And films, for that matter.
I always found 'Triffids' a bit dark and depressing. I have to agree with Waffles that 'Chrysalids' is excellent - I heard a radio play of it some 20-odd years ago and I've read it dozens (if not hundreds) of times. 'Midwich Cuckoos' is great too.

Plenty of them round here. They were kind of cool at first but once the fourth or fifth farm went up they begin to detract from the area.

Yes please. Just got back from the LBS and all fixed. Saw the most amazing sight up the hill, a mother towing her son in a trailer up a pretty steep hill at a decent speed. What a lucky kid (and partner too - ouch). Makes you wonder what's possible.

I never felt safe having one of my youngsters in/on any of my trailers. When they where babies we used to have all four of us on the tandam trike. (Insert photograph here, some time  )

We then waited until they could ride there own cycles before we went riding as a family.
