Time for a quick cup! Any further forward with that wheel Landers?
Nope! I have consigned it to the official mechanics' category of fooked.
Spent lunchtime in the pub with my cronies figuring out just how many spare parts we have between us, and which ones may or may not go together - an evening in the bikecave beckons...

When I was clearing up the workshop the other day, I found one of those metal flap thingies, new and unused. Assuming I can find it again, would you like it?

After all, you did knit me two tea cosies...

Ooh, that would be very kind, and would save me bodging with zip ties...

Well. I went home (having ridden up to campus this morning to buy a stats package from Computing Services), fired up the laptop, and set about plugging in my USB backup thingy. Except none of the USB ports wanted to work! So I had to lug it back to the laptop guy, who eventually fixed it with the help of a search on the internet... Something about the computer not knowing it had any USB ports... And next time, I'm getting a much lighter laptop!

Still, now I have my data back on, and I just have to reload a couple more programmes. And I remembered to go and choose buttons for Oli's cardigan. So the day hasn't been entirely wasted..

Need some tea though, anyone got the kettle on, or shall I...?

OK. I'll have a ferkle about and try to find it tonight; I'll be in town Friday night so I'll see if it can be dropped off then.

Oh, that would be great. Ah, I'm not in York over the weekend, I'll be away on Friday night, but if you put it through the letterbox in an envelope with my name on, it should be ok... No hurry though...

Evenings. I've cooked a large gammon. After boiling it (got loads of wonderful stock) I've removed all the outer fat, then I've basted it in a mixture of English mustard, honey, black pepper, garlic & brown sugar. We're having some of that this evening, hot, with veggies from my neighbour (potatoes, courgettes, cabbage, carrots, french beans). There'll be *loads* of meat for the rest of the week, to have with salad from the garden and I'll make some soup with the stock (I'll be adding acres of veggies to it).

I'm having corned beef hash tonight. Hoorah! The rain has stopped, I can go home and cook said hash!

Wish I had crumpets too, though...

I was going to opt for the crumpet, but now...

There's a mental image for me to take on my bike ride with me. I hope Mr W is healing up nicely. I hope Waffley Minor's mental scars are healing, for that matter...
