Driving along today, there were four cyclists travelling towards me. They were in single file, but closely following one another. The road is quite winding and up hill slightly/down etc. The traffic had backed up behind them (well, "backed up" in the Wild West of Worcestershire equals ten vehicles). My question is, should they have stayed together like that or spread out, tho' obviously it would not be necessarily easier to get round them. The vehicle immediately behind them was a very very large truck.
I am asking this in Tea? because I do not wish to invite having a ton of bricks thrown at me in the forum at large.

I am going off for something to eat, does anyone else want Lamb Rogan Josh and wholegrain brown rice?

I think slow (relative to the speed limit of the road) vehicles or convoys should pull in occasionally where it is safe and convenient to do so to allow any following traffic to pass. It helps maintain traffic flow and reduce frustration. I do when I am towing a heavy trailer or when I used to drive an old truck.

Can I have tea now please? I have taught my first HND class today, first and second year students.

And Speicher - I reckon it's easier to get past 4 bikes if they're in a group rather than straggled out. Hang back, wait for a gap and accelerate hard so when you pass them you're going quite a bit faster. That way, you're alongside the bikes for as little time as possible. I *hate* a car going past me, then cutting in front and waiting to get past the next bike...
Course, that's just me.
