Blimey, you've been a chatty bunch overnight!

Morning all!

Landers, you had kedgeree for breakfats? I'm impressed. I had Weetabix. I love kedgeree though. I do a pauper's version with tinned mackeral instead of smoked haddock...

So, Doctor. These emus, are they as well as the ostriches you originally thought of for the trampolines, or instead of, since they are easier to spell?xx(:biggrin:

And don't forget the kiwis, who would need smaller, more flexible trampolines.

Anyway, wish me luck, I'm helping out at lunchtime, giving an hour's talk and hands-on session on archaeology to 44 sixteen year olds....

It's something I've done before, and there are 3 of us sharing the load, but it's always a bit of an unknown quantity - it's a sort of outreach programme, to get kids who are bright but have no HE background, interested in Uni.

So, we're going to get them to reassemble a sheep skeleton, and then have a stab at identifying some random dug up animal bones (and think about why we'd want to do such a thing). Plus, I guess we may have to break it to them that "Bonekickers" was utter fantasy, and we never have to fight off latter day guardians of the Holy Grail...

Archeologists are always up for a dig!
That's why they work in the field.

"lack of interest", yes, that's the phrase I'd use to describe the kids we were just teaching...

<bangs head on desk>

Most of them were pretty bright, one to one, but come the end, when I finished off and said "so, any questions about bones? archaeology? university? anything? " it was just a deathly silence...

Ah well, I've earned a few quid out of it... God I needed this cup of tea though. And we're probably off to the pub later, so I might make it a G and Tea. No, hang on, just T. With plenty of G.

Your post reminds me of that guy from the archaeology department at Bristol where he was trying to do such things. Unfortunately I'm guessing his plans didn't work as he's ended up being on the BBC rather a lot in series like Coast.
