£8 for a watch strap, that is silly, you could nearly buy a new watch for that.

I know. I was hoping the pound shop would have watch straps, but no joy. So I was prepared to spend up to a pound on some thick ribbon or cloth tape to make my own. Found some in the haberdashery dept at Boyes (our local discount dept store type place, bit like Wilkinsons), at 30 a metre! Bingo, and I thought I might get away with buying half a metre, so I ask and the lady says I can buy as little as 10cm! So I asked for 20, and paid 6p.

6p for a watch strap! (and about 15 mins faffing about attaching the buckle and neatening the end) And it's actually elastic, so although I've reused the old buckle, I can just take it off without undoing it!
I'm feeling very worthy. What with that and reusing my teabags...

No, I think making my own teabags is a step too far. If I'm using loose tea (which I never do), I can use a teaball strainer thingy...

I have seen giant 'teabags' designed to go in a bath, full of relaxing herbs like lavender. You could use the material for that...
