I was under the impression that a malicious reference was not legal and that the worst that could be done was to dam with faint praise.
Oh well, good luck with the re-application !!

Humph! I need tea. Had a malicious reference from one of my previous employers and an offer of employment withdrawn. The person who offered me the job is away and I was met with some HR automaton. What really annoys me is the porkies some of these people say that they couldn't disclose anything about the references when I know for a fact that one of them had written on it that they were happy to disclose the entire contents if it came up for discussion for some reason. Bizarrely enough I've reapplied for the same job. Bureaucracy. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

It isn't legal as far as I'm aware. There's nowt I can do about it though. The problem is my old boss is on long term sick and so can't fill in a piece about me. It being left to unofficial number 2 who was less keen on me and rather more importantly not really qualified to comment (having not ever been my boss and having little to do with me). That or some bizarre stock answer or admin screw up (which is quite possible). Either way they won't tell me. I was just amused by reapplying as that will probably annoy HR!

Night Train

Maker of Things
I've just directed and rehearsed a 10 minute panto for the party here on my MSc course. It is all a bit of fun for the last night event and the instructions were for a nativity panto based on a musical that was picked out of a hat for each of the tutor groups. My group got Calamity Jane so at least it was a show I know well.

I spent many hours last night when I should have been asleep writing the script, making up new lyrics for the songs and putting it all together as a stage play for today's rehersal. It seemed to do well but some people just wouldn't put the effort in when they were offered the part of the panto Dame! At least the others were keen to join in.
Oh no the weren't!
Oh yes they were!

I have opted out of it myself to be the director as I have a rotten cough still and have to look after my voice.
I'm looking forward to seeing it as it is just going to be madly silly and alcohol fuelled.

Good morning. I'm still smarting over the possibility of having to spend more money on my bike but at least it looks like the weather might turn out ok. Pots on again if anyone wants a cuppa and the magic biccie tin if full ;)

Yes, Tea please. ;) Someone small and furry has discovered a brilliant new game. Run up and down the stairs at 5 in the morning, and 6 in the morning etc etc. I would not have thought such a small, light cat could make such a noise just running on the stairs. I get the impression she is bored and wants to go out, but the cattery said keep her in for two weeks, which is not til next Wednesday.

You are lucky. One of mine claws at my temple and then bites the skin under my eye, bridge of nose and even nostril. Before you ask yes I do feed then lol

I've noticed you've got a basement kitteh to go with your ceiling kitteh.
Which balances things out nicely. The Universe always needs balance.

He did put them all back again... We've had a busy day, we went into town, then back for lunch, then out to swimming, then we fed the ducks in the park and came back and had fishfingers for supper (well, he did)...
