Cuppa? Oh yes please.

Ducks... lovely creatures. Reminds of the year I had a mallard raising a brood in the garden. She was a wonderful duck. If I popped out into the garden & called for the cats, a duck head would pop up from the long grass on the banks of the stream. This would be followed by the rest of said duck and then her brood. She'd come running over, followed by her ducklings, quacking the entire time and *demand* to be fed. If I left the door open I could be doing something in the kitchen, then turn around to see a duck and brood at the doorway... If the door was closed, she'd literally knock on the door with her bill... She was quite lovely and considering she was a wild creature, she gifted me with a lot of trust.

There was a Mallard who made her home in the long grass outside my flat in Aberdeen earlier this year. She would waddle up to our flat every day, with her brood and, like yourself, demand to be fed. A bit of a dangerous thing to do with all the seagulls in Aberdeen but they were never touched by them.

It's official. I am officially elderly. Today I proved it. I bought myself some slippers. I am funny when it comes to slippers - I loathe them. The slip-on type with no heel support I fall out of and find I get very close to falling down stairs if I attempt to use stairs wearing such footwear. The traditional type that are like a woolly-fabric or velvety slip on but with the bit round the heel there, I still fall out of, as they tend to sag off my feet. Today I bought a little pair of short, soft fabric ugg-boot type things. They are *ideal* Now I will never be seen wearing them out of the house. They are indeed *ugly* But they make an ideal house slipper for me. Being a boot shape, they don't fall off my feet, so I am stable on stairs. They are plain black, so they don't look like a traditional old-lady slipper, and they are fleecy inside so my feet are snug and warm. The sole is stiff-ish as opposed to being completely flexible, so there is yet more stability there. Hurrah! As I said - ugly wotsits.. but they are exactly what I need as a slipper!

Bring on my bedjacket and *crochet!

*I was going to say knitting, but thought Arch might be upset if I associate knitting with being elderly....

I once owned 18 inch banana slippers... like boats on my feet
Had to go up the stairs sideways like a skier might walk up a mountain step by step. Practical no, stylish... er NO. Dunno why I bought them really

Has it come to this - slipper discussions online on a wednesday night - my life... wasted ;)
