At the risk of giving Mr S Duck more evidence that I might not be female when choosing slippers, I buy men's ones. 
If you can find them in size 6 and a plain dark blue they are about one million times more practical than the delicate items that pass for Ladies slippers. They are also much-longer lasting, and give more support to my tootsies. I buy them from a stall in the market, where the very kind lady, orders them for me - the usual range of sizes for men being size 7 onwards.

With thanks to Night Train, I now have a Christmas Avatar. The next challenge is to upload a photo of Tasha.
Stages achieved so far
Find camera
locate re-chargeable batteries
locate battery charger (this took a week, and was found near the kettle)
find that zoom does not work
consider buying new camera, decide to try to find someone to repair camera, fail in this endeavour. (Call in Morse* at this point
)
fiddle with camera, have a cuppa
fiddle with camera lots more times, press "re-set", zoom now works
Find cat, decide not to take photo if she is hiding under dining room table
wait for cat to decide she is ready to have her photo taken
take some more photos, have a cuppa
waffle on here, eat dark choc hobnob....

No they are plain dark blue, and look more like comfy shoes than slippers.

This was a picture of Tasha, but really it was a good picture of the radiator and the cat was out of focus. I will try again at the weekend.

No not really Royal, they are both about 18 inches tall, and are very woolly characters.

You may have to wait a bit. I have mastered the camera, sort of, and loading the photos on to the computer, but it is not until I see them big on the screen that I can decide if they are any good. Tasha the cat might have moved during her photo shoot, and so she looks not very happy.
The gardener and the clown on the other hand, remain very still.
