I am taking my mother back home tomorrow.
Life might then begin to return to normal. ;):wahhey:

Sittingduck, do you realise that if you click on your sig line, to see your Perfect woman, and then click on properties, she is classed as unavailable.

I am going home tomorrow too and know the feeling of the return to normality! I think I have stayed a little too long with my folks this year (6 nights). Better limit myself to 3 nights I think next year as am beginning to get snappy with them :smile:

No - I did not know that about "Hotlips" in my sig

p.s. I thought females were ALWAYS right?

That's the hens sorted. Poor Anode is going through a moult and she looks quite pathetic! Cathode isn't moulting as much. Makes you wonder as to why hens moult during the cold part of the year when they really require their built-in duvets!

Killer hens. I have killer hens.

For the first time, I gave The Laydeez some pearl barley. I just boiled it in water until it had swelled a bit & softened. Wandered out into the garden. Hens looked at me. Hens saw steam rising from pan. Hens went *wild* Put the still wamr cooked barley in their food containers. The reaction was amazing. They immediately reverted to their dinosaurian roots in their rush to get to the warm, white gold in the dishes. They are *evil*.. and woe betide anything or anyone who gets between them and their cooked barley!

Anyone for a brew?

Back from a trip to the January Sales.

Walked down the old Railway Line into town in the sunshine and went round the second hand shops .

Picked up an Encyclopaedia of Cacti, Abbotts Encylopedia of Rope Tricks for Magicians, In Search of Robert Millar and More Goon Show Scripts.

How much?

£8.76

That'll do till next year I think.

You wuz robbed.

Went into town yesterday with Mrs Uncle Phil and her twin sister. Haven't done this for a bit, and now that their hairstyles almost match, it raises a few eyebrows. Always fun to watch.

Anyway, apart from lunch, I bought a pouch from the pound shop. And twin sister paid for that in the end.

It's exactly the right size for the tools I carry when touring. I can open the pouch and they're all laid out to hand, rather than (as at the mo) tipping them all out on the ground from their bag and then losing them.

One sugar, please.

Anyone else managed not to spend money in the sales?

I try very hard not to spend money, especially in the January sales. My mother and I were in the local cookware shop, and she bought a few items, exciting things like a muffin tray (wot you cook muffins in) a deep roasting tin, etc (cos she liked mine) and the owner of the shop said she would take 10% approx of the Bill. She also let me know that the mugs would be reduced in price later on, because she is changing the stock of mugs. That seems much more sensible than shops expecting us to believe that things are reduced by 70%. I might keep an eye on prices of some items, but I absolutely avoid the madness of the big sales.

Tea please, no choc cake left.

Which Pound Shop? We have two now, you know, one on Petergate and one on Coney Street...

I'm still at my Mum's. She went down with a nasty lurgy last night, and wasn't fit to drive me home - not that I'd have wanted to leave her bedridden and being sick. I'll get the train back tomorrow. She's nibbling on a water biscuit and I'm going to cook some rice in stock for her, and we'll hope it stays down....

So I've spent the day reading, knitting a mitten, and watching 'Dave' - my mother now has Freeview, hoorah! She's enjoying something academic on BBC4 as I type.

Right, I better go off and cook something nourishing. I shall have rice too, but I can mix in some veg and a load of leftover chicken - yes, we're still eating it!

I just wish I had a TV:blush:
