Just a quick one, I should go home and think about roasting some parsnips...

Been trying to think whether to give anything up for Lent. Not for religious reasons really, it's more a test of willpowere, which seem to be getting slacker as the years go by.

Trouble is, I'm living so frugally, I don't have much to give up. Thought about chocolate, as I do tend to have a choccy digestive with my lunch or for the odd snack. Making it a plain digestive, or a ginger nut, would do. Other wise, I don't treat myself much. When a treat is so rare, it's almost harder to deny it.

I did think of something else, and that would have the advantage of saving on batteries too...

When does Lent start? Or what I really want to say is, when do I have an excuse to have pancakes for tea?xx(

Pancake day is the coming Tuesday...

Tom and I hosted a pancake party for fellow students once, we spent all evening making pancakes (avoids use of word tossing) and had to send people out for more eggs and flour. After a couple of hours we realised neither of us had had a pancake yet - everytime we made one, a plate appreared to receive it and it was gone!

To my shame, I've only recently learnt to make pancakes. My early attempts used to resemble scrambled eggxx(. Anyway, looks like I've got another excuse to practise on Tuesday then.xx(

Will you go for just classic or have lots of fillings on hand? I'm going round to a friend's house, so I expect we'll have variety...

I was thinking of the classic sugar or honey with lemon. But you've got me thinking... I like savoury pancakes as well so could have some vegetables in cheese sauce perhaps? It'll be whatever I can conjure up from the contents of the fridge I think.
