Arch, I have asked Peter, at Velovison to send some sample copies to the Pump House. I am wondering if my colleague will be the same again, once she sees the "models" in this month's edition.;)

I know, seeing Spandex has that effect (I'm not saying if it's good or not...) Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the magazines...

Oh, that sounds good! Hope you enjoy it! Is this the thing supporting people with disabilities/learning difficulties?

The students have Specific Learning Difficulties, which means they need support with the Maths and English in their course. They are doing class room based activities in the morning, and IIRC either Animal Care* or Plant Care in the afternoon.

I expect my learning curve will be steep. I will not be Teaching as such.

* Tarantulas and Llamas are among the more exotic species in the College.

It is a long day, 9 am to 5 pm, which I am not used to, but will hopefully be a supportive environment. When I visited, the campus seemed calm but busy, as opposed to Worcester Tech, which was extremely busy, and crowded. It is a shame Oxfam was not a success, but at least I realised early on, that it was not suitable for me.

Not kept together, I hope. The taratulas would spook the llamas, who might then tread on the tarantulas...

Sounds amazing. I am looking at applying for a P/T job with a Forensic Mental Health Organisation - I only want P/T at the mo so I can continue to Volunteer with Sustrans.

The idea is, as I understand it - as follows. The College wants to have a Data base of people who are able to slot in for Staff Absences etc, whether that be a week or six weeks etc. That would mean be able to work with Students with Moderate learning disabilities, (which is where my previous experience lies) or adults with Specific Learning Difficulties, or more advanced Student, more in need of support and guidance, and being advised where to seek more advanced help. Ie pointing them in the right direction, where necessary.

I will get back into doing longer days, and learning the job myself. I hopefully will not be in a classroom all day. I could do a third day if I wanted, but I will see how the first two/three weeks go. So I get some valuable training, (unpaid) and the College gets the opportunity to see I would be suitable. End of term is late June, so that is an ideal end point.

I will be taking a break from my volunteering at the Pump House, but will continue in the summer after the College closes. I do not want to take on too much and the Pump House are very understanding about this.

Right, I'm off soon, to wrestle with the eternal question of what to have for dinner. And I've found the Uke chords for Hallelujah on the 'net, so that's something new to work at.

Hope to see LOTP at Leicester tomorrow, we hope to arrive late morning. There better be tea!

Is it tucked behind the eye testing thingy on the living room wall?

I thought you were very good at finding things. Behind the fridge?

In the top drawer by the telephone? I am trying to think where you would have been when you came into the house with it, or used it last?

Puts kettle on for Tdrinka.
