Hi All!
<hands tiffin to DJ>
I like your idea Uncle Phil. Sensible, practical, proven.
It'll never happen...
Went out for a spin yesterday, firstly to try out my
new commute for timing - only 20 minutes yesterday, including a couple of stops to look at the map. Don't imagine it'll take much longer on a weekday, just be more trafficcy. (Good old York - put the Eco Business Centre in an edge of town industrial area/retail park to put off cyclists...). Then pootled off to see where I ended up. The answer being Wigginton (horrible road out there, won't do that route again), Stamford Bridge, Pocklington, Melborne, Elvington, Weldrake and Escrick (plus points in between). About 38 miles in all, which I'm quite pleased with. Rather sore behind and wrists by the end though. Reckon my legs could have done more, but my bottom was getting... arsey, I suppose. And in all that time, only got nearly killed once, by a car turning right at the Museum St/St Leonards crossroads, when I was almost within sight of home... Well, I say nearly killed, maybe not, but it's lucky my brakes worked well and I was covering them, expecting him to go across me.
And after all that, had a Ceasar salad and cous cous for dinner, how good is that! (makes up for the Jaffa cakes I consumed en route...
