Ah, I grew up in Wigginton. Nice place, but the Wiggy road is pretty horrible to cycle down. Very straight, and quite narrow. Cars do go very fast down it. There are some nice routes out to Helmsley from Wigginton though. If you go a bit further around the ring road (don't fancy that much on a bike) you can go through Haxby, then out through Strensil and further.

I spent many a day just riding around there on my bike when I was a nipper.

I rode around the ring road on my bike before they opened it as well, that was fun, in a "shouldn't be on here" kind of way.

Yeah, I thought Wigginton and Haxby looked nice - villagey, but not so far out of town. I could have found a better way out there, but I was experimenting. The roundabout at the ring road/Wiggy road is a classic - off road cycle lane snippets at each sour, to let you cross the road. No off road cycle path, or even on-road lane, leading to them, just off road crossings and then back on the road in every direction. Pointless! I only took the off road bit thinking it might lead to a nice path by the road, but no... And saw the sign for Helmsley - maybe give that a go next time. Should head out Howden again some time. The Deli/cafe there does a wicked cheese platter!

For lunch today, I had noodles in cupasoup sauce, a Jaffa cake and some cheese.....

Tea, anyone?
