On a lighter note, Arch, do you recall me saying about the little doors I found in a tree once? Long story short - these are they! NB This is a picture on a website of something very similar, they are called Fairy Doors.

I am sure I could make something similar. I would need to find some very small hinges and a teensy door knob, and key. ;) Now I just need to find out how tall the fairies are, that live at the bottom of my garden.

Sweet! You need a tiny boot scraper outside it, for full effect.

Aperitif, don't be daft, they have their own shops, also at the bottom of the garden. A fairy couldn't go to any old Tesco, how would they reach to push the trolley?

Morning. Another fitful night's sleep so I am migrainey. Blecch. But the hens are seen to, as are the felines. The bread is being made and the next batch of chutney-type stuff is in the pan, to use up the green tomatoes as a result of yesterday's falling over of tomato plants. Waste not, want not.

My tomatoes have failed. I had one plant in a pot, and it's gone very leggy and put on a few flowers, but none of them seem to have opened up properly for pollination, so they just die off.

So not even green tomatoes for me.

Have you been feeding your tomato plant, Arch? It's not too late. It needs to be in a sunny position, lots of light, warm, kept *damp* and fed weekly with a decent fertiliser. Plus most toms are self-fertile.

Probably lack of feed then, it's had the rest. I'm not buying any feed now. I never intended to grow anything this year, and then someone gave me the plants thinking I still had the allotment, so I passed two on and kept on.

Failure to grow even a tomato suits my current mood better anyway, but thanks for the tip. I've grown toms in the window before without fertilizer, just lucky I guess. Funny though, that it makes flowers, but that they don't open fully (IE no stamens accessible).

I went out and bought the bloody thing a cane to be tied to, as well. That was 26p....

Another hot and steamy day here in France. 36c.

Iced Tea with Lemon anyone?

That's just stupidly hot. I stop functioning at that sort of temperature, as does my mother. Pity they just had the biggest heatwave in 50 years in British Columbia. She's back now, and pleased to hear we've had rain most of the time - her garden would have been like a desert....

Apparently they went out a few times in my uncle's pick up truck, instead of either of the two Volvos, because it was only in the pick up that the aircon worked.... She said she quite enjoyed being in such a big vehicle (IE one you climb up into). Oh dear, you don't think she's going to ditch the Corsa for a Rangerover do you?

Mind you, I saw a nice pick up truck yesterday in York. It had been a Morris Minor originally!
