I have just made a batch of lemon curd. OOOOOH but it is yummy. The fresh homemade stuff is far, far nicer than the bought stuff. And a way of using up eggs as provided by The Laydeez!

Ooh, I like lemon curd, my Mum makes it sometimes.

Any tea on the go? I'm in a sort of slightly relieved haze. I caught my supervisor in his office and had The Talk with him that I needed, and a big weight is lifted from my mind, even though there are still decisions to be made.

I have probably just turned my back on the PhD.

So a fortifying cuppa would go down well.

Um, thanks, but I'll hold out for tea and a bourbon. Never liked Haribo type sweets.

It is a relief to be talking to people about it, I've been going over and over stuff in my head for weeks, months maybe. Time to move on. My supervisor didn't look all that surprised - he has a tendency to either be able to anticipate my angst, or at least not look surprised. He's going to look into whether anything can be salvaged from it - I don't know if he means an MPhil, or just maybe some papers, or something. I just want shot of it.

Just need to tell my Mum now....

Very rarely do I watch the "One Show" on BBC1, but on Tuesday IIRC there was a short film about St Nicholas Fields, the bit that was landfill and is now covered with trees etc, with lots of birds. Is that "your" St Nicholas Fields?

Not such good news at the Pumphouse. There was an incident in the Park a few weeks ago, and the Centre and the Park had to be closed while the police were in the area.

If you have stuff written and could easily turn it into an MPhil without too much angst I would. But I guess if you're not going to continue with the Archaeology it's maybe not important.

Yeah. TBH, I was starting to fear for my sanity, and realised I'd lost all impetus to finish. It's not like I had to do it to carry on with some chosen career any more. I've now talked in depth to 3 people about it, they've all askd pretty much the same questions, and said that they think I'm doing what's right for me.

So, the plan. Pay off debts, save a bit, bugger off on my bike.

That sounds like a career plan, doesn't it?

On a plus note, someone on the recyling team on Tuesday said something about heavy work and "I'll be a broken man by the time I'm 40" and I said "oi, careful what you say about being 40" and they both said "are you forty? We thought you were younger..."

Thanks for telling us about that Speicher. Spandex and his dad will be very interested. I guess it will be available on iPlayer.

I'm a bit hazy on what an MPhil entails. I have stuff written, although bits of it are coming up to 5 years old, so need updating anyway.

I know in many ways it seems a 'waste' but when I started a lot of stuff was different, and you just don't know how life is going to turn out, and how you'll change. In some ways, if I could hand something in and just Fail and be done with it, like an undergrad degree, that would be less stressful, but that's not how it goes, you have have the viva, have corrections suggested, it would still linger on, possibly for another year. If I don't feel the impetus to get on with 6 weeks to go to the deadline, when will I?

I guess it's just a new chapter in the book of Arch.
