Bearing mind her age, recovery may take some time. I could not cope with looking after her on my own, however often nurses pop in for giving assistance with bathing etc. Both my brothers work, one full time, and one works about ten days a month as a long-distance lorry driver.

Ten years ago, when my father was very ill and needed a lot of help, my mother was also recovering from a stroke, and I had a demanding job with unsocial hours, working weekends and Bank holidays.

This time I am not working, and am getting some support and help from one of my brothers. He is nearly seventy, his wife has not been well, but he is very supportive when he can be.

Yay!

My achey ankle has become a sort of grumbling ache in both legs. Anyone got a 5'3" length of large tubigrip bandage?

Honestly, if I was a horse, I'd be Copydex by now.

I've broken my cable modem, so I'll be off-line until Saturday when the replacement comes through.

Plenty of time to take your bike for another walk then :giggle:

It appears the work situation is even more complicated than I thought, 'staff' positions are being hit first, 17 redundancies, then us shop floor workers are being put on a rotating shift of 'days' and 'nights' which means a reduction in pay as we get no shift pay for 'day' shift.
ie- one week 8am til 4.30pm the following week 10pm til 6am then back again.

Once this has been sorted the 'management' are then looking to cut the numbers on the shop floor, agency, temporary workers first, then full timers
