Ouch NT, hope you recover quickly, forgive my flippant response last night :hugs:
No worries, I am staying light hearted about it all and not getting stressed or upset.

Well, following on from the return visit to the fracture clinic I can confirm the tendon is ruptured. The damage is high up where the tendons join the muscle bulk so it was hard to spot.
It does mean that they decided not to operate, for now, and just put me in a cast to see how it knits together. I have a scan, I think, next week to see if it is working.

So in the meantime, no driving, cycling, walking, messing in the workshop or even climbing the ladder to get to bed for the next 8 weeks!

Black is a slimming colour isn't it?

The pain thread. Ahhhhhhh just sat at my desk trying to do some work and it's bloody painful, can't unbend my back. Hot water bottle deployed and co codamol taken. Nice cast NT.
Owwww!
:hugs:
GWS Gromit.

I am avoiding the pain killers for as long as I can but the Codeine Phosphate is to hand.

Oh, bugger. That's less-than-ideal, NT.
They do heal up eventually. My dad had his go a while back, and Mr Wafflycat (formerly of this parish) did his a few years ago. While dancing around the kitchen IIRC.

I may be a wuss but I've just managed to change my appointment from 1pm to later today when (she says crossing all her fingers and toes) the rain should have stopped.
After a mostly-dry afternoon, which included taking the dog and the bike to the farm shop to get bird food, it's just started peeing it down again. Maybe it will stop before I leave ...

Hmm, Potsy, what do you think? :giggle:

Oh dear NT, at least you have better pain killers.

Tomorrow I'm off with Pete to an electric bike show, camping is involved for two nights I think. Don't know how the back is going to cope, what with the wet weather and the gale force winds. Just hoping that Tom's tent is up to the job.

:hugs: for NT

Owwwwch!:B)

Having been light hearted, 'brave' and kept good humour throughout all this I had a little cry. Not for feeling sorry for myself, no, too busy trying to be happy for that. It was for this:

(photo taken at GP's waiting room)

I had a GP's appointment booked for this afternoon and so I phoned for a minicab with plenty of time. The cab company said that due to an incident on the motorway they couldn't promise a cab within a hour.
It is only about half a mile so I set off to walk, with Mum. Less then 10 yards from my house my crutches slipped on the wet ground and I went crashing down on my toes onto rough tarmac chippings.
That hurt, still does.

Thankfully a red van man working next door was kind enough to give me a lift, dripping blood and all, to the surgery while Mum walked, only one seat in the van.

My nice GP did the honorable thing and, not knowing anything about what had happened over the last 24 hours, burst out laughing as I struggled into her consulting room.

I managed to call my friendly neighbour and he commandeered one of his tenants, who has a car, to come pick us up.

I am now drinking :cuppa: and looking forwards to the effects of the painkillers.

You can still reach your toes :giggle:
I can reach them, can't see much of them and cleaning the cuts was more difficult then I thought. I can't turn my ankle for a better look and it hurts my knee joint trying to cross my leg over my lap to see.

My toe nail has shunted back into the cuticle and there are some bleeding holes around the end of my toe from road rash. Whole toe is now a throbbing purple.
