I can also offer to rejoin as a Volunteer when the Centre re-opens to assist putting the place back together. I am sure it is a matter of when, not if, but these things take time - drying out the building, fixing the heating, then putting the displays back etc along with three million other things that need doing. It is a Centre a bit like St Nicks in York, with, amongst other things, displays on recycling, manuals on how to construct straw bale buildings, bike-powered radios and orange-powered clocks.

Anyone got a use for three large boxes of wet Tyrrells crisps? and boxes of damp organic chocolate biskits.

Hmm, wet crisps aren't good... As I found out at primary school when I asked for crisp sandwiches for my packed lunch. They absorbed the marg, and I ended up with damp slices of potato sandwiches...

Helping out with clear up/putting back is always good - esp if you already know the place, so know what you're doing.

We had a St Nicks meeting on Weds, and are thinking of ways, eventually, to expand the centre, with more hands-on displays and stuff - I may pick your brains over that! At the moment the centre is there for the volunteers and us as a base, and there are leaflets and compost bins for sale, but not much more. We'd all like to make it more of a destination. (with mentions of a cafe!)

Mornings!

Just made fresh brew. Help yourselves.

A breakfast of porridge topped with fruit and an accompanying bucket (or two) of tea is just the thing to set me up for the day.

Well, that was nearly a disaster. I've finally got a decent ride in today and got home pretty chilled to remember I'd used the last of the milk this morning:ohmy:. Fortunately I then remembered I'd got some powdered milk left over from my tour last summer so have rescued the situation. And there's a pasty warming in the oven to accompany it.

No one drinking tea today? I've had three cups...

I've just uploaded all my ride data to Mycyclinglog, since cyclogs is broken, and now mycyclinglog won't load, I'm afraid I've broken it.

Today I got a haircut, paid a cheque in at the bank, bought some more new jeans (dark blue and skinnier than my previous blue ones, like the brown pair I bought a couple of weeks back), and some groceries, including the necessaries for another batch of pheasant casserole to freeze, and a swede and haggis for tomorrow's supper - early I know, but I'll be out Monday night and anyway, after a day at work, I haven't the patience to mash swede. Did some laundry. Thinking about a nice warming spag bol for dinner tonight.

Hmm, more tea I think.

Yikes! Always worth having some powdered milk in for that sort of occasion. Must put it on my list to replace the tub I used up months back....

Nice ride? Go anywhere special?

mmmm, pasty....

I headed out to Pocklington to our favourite cafe but couldn't get a table and had to sit outside! Rather than go back the same way, I did Millington, Huggate, Middleton and wound my way home. Some of the roads were ones we did on the Grimpeur but in the opposite direction. It was quite a nice ride, just a shame the weather was so grey. My new Airnimal performed magnificently though:smile:. I'm very pleased with it.

;) It was very good to see you again Renard. Next time, could you think about staying long enough for Tea?

Nice! Glad the Airnimal is going well - is that what you're taking on the adventure?

Yes, that's the plan at the moment. I haven't tried it out fully loaded yet but I know people have taken them touring.

Hello Renard!

I've been out shopping again. I came back with 3 balls of chunky wool for a bag project I have in mind, 3 poundshop belts (for the buckles, to make more bike tyre belts, using tyres of bikes dumped at St Nicks), some Seeds of Change cereal bars (poundshop again), a tub of sunflower spread (forgot to get it at Sainsburys yesterday), and a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. There was a feature about Cadbury on Broadcasting House this morning, and I got a craving for some.

I'm rationing myself to 2 chunks at a time. Mind you, I'm not sure how far apart I can keep the 'at a times'!

Next, I'm going to make a pheasant casserole, and then prep the veg for my Haggis, neeps and tatties tonight.

And I have three sheep to stuff and sew up to let my friend have for her stall tomorrow night.

Before that, tea?

Yes, Tea please. A further search in the depths of the deep drawers under the bed, resulted in finding the right fabric for my V shaped cushion cover.

Craghoppers Sale ;) They had my size and favourite colour in trousers in their sale, usually £35 now £15, excellent, and soft blouses in a very small check at similar prices.

New glasses are needed for all this computer work.

Economies will be made by changing from Ocado on line to Asda. We recently had a Asda open near here. I have been in, and tried some of the food there, (yes, I did pay for and take it home, as you ask :laugh:) and found it good, better than expected. I will be ordering some Highlander shortbread/cake biskits, and other special requests?

Arch if you wanted some good trousers, in the sale, do you have a Craghoppers shop near you?

There is Yeomans, which stocks Craghoppers. I'll maybe wander in next week. I looked at the website you mentioned in another section, but everything in my size was sold out... My work trousers are Craghopper cargo trousers, and I find I can get them washed and dried over the weekend, as they dry pretty quickly. A spare pair would be good though.

The thing about Asda, most of the stuff will be made in the same factories as the branded stuff, but just packaged differently. Apparently, Nabisco make all wheat bisks not just Weetabix. Except, I think, the Sainsburys basics ones, which have square corners, and a texture like Artex once milk is applied. But dammit, I'm going to finish the box before I buy any more.

With cereals I tend to stick to the branded ones. Except Asda Smart Price porridge, which is fine, and I alternate that with jumbo oats.

Sugar Puffs and Grape Nuts, my other favourites, tend not to be copied.
Asda's bread seems half the price of Ocado's, not that I eat a lot of bread, and I like bread with some strength to it.

I looked on the site mentionned in "Bargains - have you seen one" and like the look of the gloves? If it says small and they are adults gloves, do you think small will be for women?
