I am sure it is a matter of when, not if, but these things take time - drying out the building, fixing the heating, then putting the displays back etc along with three million other things that need doing. It is a Centre a bit like St Nicks in York, with, amongst other things, displays on recycling, manuals on how to construct straw bale buildings, bike-powered radios and orange-powered clocks.
Anyone got a use for three large boxes of wet Tyrrells crisps? and boxes of damp organic chocolate biskits.![]()
Hmm, wet crisps aren't good... As I found out at primary school when I asked for crisp sandwiches for my packed lunch. They absorbed the marg, and I ended up with damp slices of potato sandwiches...
Helping out with clear up/putting back is always good - esp if you already know the place, so know what you're doing.
We had a St Nicks meeting on Weds, and are thinking of ways, eventually, to expand the centre, with more hands-on displays and stuff - I may pick your brains over that! At the moment the centre is there for the volunteers and us as a base, and there are leaflets and compost bins for sale, but not much more. We'd all like to make it more of a destination. (with mentions of a cafe!)
