I prefer using Amazon for my choons as they are proper MP3 files that can be used on any device so your not locked in like you are with Apple also they are miles cheaper as well, I use android for my mobile devices because the devices are miles cheaper to buy and they can do more and Android fully customizable to how I want it and my S3 has much better quality sound than my iPod did.

In addition to that, and the visits by the Gas Man (three times) the telephone man, and the electrician, I now find I need a plumber. Perhaps I should ask Night Train to visit and fix everything in one go. ^_^

Just don't distract him too much from his own house!

He says when we get to the plumbing, he'll teach me to solder. Get the drip trays ready....

Me thinks you'll have to talk a great deal slower than that if you want @wol to understand you

Today I am pondering digital music.

As well as several hundred books, I seem to have about one hundred CDs. That is a lot , until I remembered that CDs became popular in circa late 20th Century. Therefore I have bought, on average about three, possibly four CDs each year over the past um...err... twenty five years. So, is it really worth me fiddling and twiddling about with downloadable music. I often listen to music while I am relaxing on the sofa in the lounge*, or while doing the ironing, or sewing. Using a puter at those times is not wholy convenient. I also have to take into account my inability to download a book onto a Kindle reader thingummy.

* I still have the "music centre" aka turntable, radio, double cassette player, and cd player combined in one machine that I purchased in 1986.

Does anyone have any helpful thoughts on this conunundrumum?
Carry on buying CDs and vinyl, at least you own what you have bought and can do with it as you wish for your personal enjoyment.

If you download then you are paying for the right to listen to the track and don't own it. That means that you can't give it to anyone and may be limited to what you can do with it.

With a real life recording you can convert it to use on your laptop, phone and MP3 player as you wish and make as many copies for personal use. And if you lose a music device you still have the original CD that you have paid for.

Anyway, that's my reason for still buying recorded media, music, films and books.

My reasoning is that I can always convert my mp3's into any new format that comes along, they take up no physical space at all and I only need to buy the tracks I want instead of paying for an album when I really only want 1 or 2 tracks and of course it is cheaper. The same applies with eBooks plus I can have access to thousands of books with out them taking up any physical space at all.

I like the fact that there are books piled up everywhere in my house. Well, I'd like it even more if they were neatly arranged on bookcases but that involves me remembering to speak to my landlord about putting up more shelves.
