Went for a swift pint after work. First Aid course all day tomorrow. And helping my friend with the craft stall on Sunday - have to be in Fangfoss by 9am... 15 miles away. No buses. That's an early bike ride then...

Emm Err -that looks like a Norwegian name. I suppose the Vikings did make it to York IIRC. Are they still there?

They did make it to York - in fact their final invasion, to put Harald Hardrada on the throne after Edward died intestate, was defeated at Stamford Bridge, about 5 miles from Fangfoss.

And there are plenty still here - they all work at the Jorvik centre, and parade about at Jorvik festival time....

Bit like this perhaps? http://www.uphellyaa.org/

Any excuse to get dressed up and drink too much

Evening!

Busy day today. MrWC & I went into Norwich and we have *finally* sorted out my transport situation. I am now a proper biker-chick (old hen variety) by having not only my pedal cycles, but next weekend we're back into Norwich to collect my brand new Vespa. I have to decide upon a name for my new baby. I have also acquired some suitable attire and will have to get 'love' and 'hate' tattooed on my knuckles  Came home and I've made a spicy chicken dinner as I coated the chicken in some flavoursome Ras el hanout spice mix, and had it with veggies on a couscous base. Filling and yummy. I am replete.

The kettle is on for a cuppa too.

Oh, Waffles, how cool! Will you be picking up Italian hunks on it? Save me one? An older one, with twinkly eyes, like the head waiter at La Piazza...*

Hmm, my diet to day has been awful. Toast and tea for breakfast, ok, then went to work for the first aid course, and some leftover nibbles from the meeting there last night. Leftover sandwiches and more nibbles for lunch, and a small shandy at mid afternoon. Then after work, on my way home after an extra mile or two, I encountered my colleagues on the bike path, who'd talked me into going to the pub. Two halves, a bag of pork scratchings, and a mars bar later, I came home, and had a fish finger sandwich, a handful of minstrels, and a piece of cheese.

Now feeling ever so slightly dodgy in the midriff...

And I've got to be up for 7am tomorrow to get to Fangfoss. My friend emailed on Friday to say, she'd only found out on Tuesday, but the craft fair starts at 9... I really need to allow 90 mins at least to do the 13 miles.

*I once went there twice in a week, with different chaps, and that waiter twinkled at me all evening.

Pikcing up Italian hunks? I wish. The nearest I'll ever get to having me leg over a good-looking Italian is my leg lifted over the crossbar of Gino or Luigi, or, indeed, my new Vespa... if it happens to end up with a male name.

That should work off the podginess!

Well, it'll help...

When I said I'd do the job, I thought it would be starting at 10ish, so a 9am start is a shock to the system. I looked into buses, but I'd have to leave York at 7am anyway, to get to Wiberfoss at 7.30, and walk the last two miles. The next bus wouldn't get me to W'foss until 11am...

Afternoons!!!

I have spent entirely too much time on trains and such of late. I'll do a full where-I-went-on-holiday thing later, but getting to Prague by train, with a dodgy leg (me, not the train), is something of a trek.
I thoroughly approve of Berlin though.

Right, I need some Tea. Not had any to speak of for some time...

Just made a brew.

Just in from my run out to Fangfoss. 1 hr 9 mins on the way out, 1hr 1 min coming back - tailwind!

Plus, I sold a shawl I'd knitted among other things, so got my cut of the money for that....

But not had a cup of tea since breakfast!
