I didn't have any obvious nicks or cuts, but I did have a temperature somewhere way up there * points up* and swelling from my ankle up to my upper thigh.
I would not recommend it as a means of relaxation.

Could be the same then.
At its worse the pain was right up to my thigh and my knee was really hot to the touch too.

Well, after a late finish last night (rolled back to the lockup about 10pm) I had a lie in this morning, knitted half a glove, read a bit, had breakfast, went out and got some odds and ends of Xmas shopping, and some groceries, I've just had a sushi lunch and now it's time to put the kettle on again...

Tea?

I'm fine thanks, just made one, kettle might still be hot.

I was perusing sewing forums yesterday evening, after Strictly of course. Going round in circles, trying to find an invisible zip foot* for my sewing machine. I found one in the end. However, it was quite an interesting route, via

Quilts for Olympics 2012 that are being made in York
Traplet Publications in Malvern, that produce "Sewing World".
then to Redditch and via Spain to a Textiles sort of College not a million miles away at Inkberrow.

I do not usually wander round the internet in such a circuitous fashion (?) but it was very interesting.

Foot note for non sewists: It is the zip that is invisible not the foot. ;)

Bit late, had to reheat the kettle so topped it up and made up a pot.

I'm trying to work out a 20 minute mini-teach lesson for my teacher training. It should have been for next week but I have been brought forward to make it easier for someone else! Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a nice bloke.

Ho hum, I will just get on with it.
I was going to do an interactive teach on Living with Asperger's Syndrome but I haven't time to get the resources together so I will do something boring and simple.

I figured I might teach the phonetic alphabet and get the 'learners' to achieve spelling their name phonetically. That will cover about 10 minutes so I need to figure what else I can add to it to fill the time contructively.

Do it twice? ;)

Who actually devised the phonetic alphabet, and why did they choose the words they chose? I guess brevity and clarity were important, but why that particular set of words, I wonder?

I suppose you could get the class to think of alternative words that would work as well, with similar syllables and metre.

Or just confuse them with A for 'orses, B for mutton, C for t'Highlanders, etc... ;)

I'm going to come up with some kind of quiz I think.
It just annoys me that I am supposed to use tech and resources even if I don't need them.

A for amphetemines, B for benzedrine, C for Charlie (that one works for the standard phonetic alphabet too!)
LOL, I've worked with kids who could complete that alphabet.

You could always ask stuff like:

How many Shakespearean characters are there in the alphabet? How many placenames? How many end in 'o'? Etc.

Easier if they have the list in front of them, harder if they don't...
