One of my only shining moments at school (which was a long time ago  ) was winning a 'bake off' making a yule log. I won because they thought i'd kept it simple and nice looking. They asked me to make another....i learned nothing. I made it hideously fancy. Slow learner me..
Anyway, lots of cherries, fruit and a healthy splash of cypriot brandy. Its going to be interesting come that time.

I will not be making a Christmas cake, more likely to be a chocolate sponge with whipped cream filling and chocolate icing on the top - for the evening on Christmas Day. Mince pies are lovely and scrummy with whipped cream or very good ice cream like Mackies or Bennetts.

I can't stop for a cuppa, I'm off to bed now. Before I go, here is a recipe for all your coughs, colds, sore throats and even the dreaded man flu.

1 mug of cheap lemonade, microwave for about 2 mins (appliances vary, check manufacturer's instructions). Or until it is boiling.

Stir in 2 teaspoonfuls of honey, the squeezy bottle stuff is OK.

Add 2 teaspoonfuls of Jif lemon juice.

No need to add any Paras parrats Aspirin.

Go to bed, prop up your pillow and get snuggley and comfy, sip drink.

Do not put the mug on your bedside cabinet, because it will leave a sticky circle that takes a fair bit of scrubbing to remove!

Still, drinking it would probably take you mind off the cold, momentarily.xx(

Interesting idea to use lemonade. I wonder if ginger beer would work too - ginger is a nice warming flavour.

I find that apple and blackcurrent squash made up with hot water is nice and comforting too.

Well, my Xmas shopping is all but done. (Well, it's done, but I guarantee I'll think of something to add to the list in the next week). I got the space pen in the end, I hope he'll like the idea. I found the wooden letters Mum wanted to give Max (to add his ownership to the room he and Oli share), and got him a chunky wooden puzzle of dinosaurs that fit into cutouts in a board. It's labelled as 2+, but the lady said it's certified safe from birth, and I think he'll like holding the dinos even if he can't fit them in yet. Oli has train things, my sister has the muffin tin she asked for, and something from Cath Kidston, Mum has a scarf and a perfume atomiser (which match, depsite being from different sources) and some dark chocolate/orange twigs (posh matchmakers really), and Dot (b-i-l's mum) has a scarf and soap (also matching).

Just got to wrap it all now!

Oh, and I found some fuzzy felts in a charity shop! I'm not going to wrap those, but I'll take them as a diversion to play with Oli with, and then let him take them home if he likes them. Or not, if I enjoy them too much! ;)

Ooh, I forgot, I spotted this in the music shop over the road:

He's not at all how I pictured him...

Ooooh, that's cool! All I need is an electric guitar to go with it. I wonder what it sounds like?

I have a HH 100W 5 input amp and a matching slave amp with a pair of 200W speakers. I haven't dared to try it out wth my bass yet. It might make the house settle on its foundations and upset the neighbours.

Yes please. I have not been out today, too tired. Just as I was dozing off last night, I started coughing and coughing.....

I was woken up by the phone ringing at 9am but ignored it!

On a serious note, please read the small print on the packet of paracetamols. It is very easy to take too many, and the consequences of that are serious, very serious.

Lets hope we are both better soon, don't want to be ill over Xmas.
Have had 8 tablets today, is that too many? Won't have any more until the morning.

It should say on the back of the packet. My packet of paracetamol says not to take more than 8 (500 mg) tablets in 24 hours. Also not to take them for more than three days. Also very important is not to take them with anything else that contains paracetamol. That might be in things like Lemsip and Night nurse etc.

If you have a headache you could try ibuprofen. Too much paracetamol can cause permanent liver damage, or it might be kidney damage. If I was you I would not have any more paracetamol until 24 hours after you took the first dose this morning. Sorry to scare you, but this is very important but often overlooked until it is too late.
