I've just had Chinese chilli prawns, fried chicken wings and pak choi.

About time for a nice cup of tea.

Yum! I've just had spaghetti with random stuff on it.

Ready for another cuppa myself, but I'll have to sit here to hear the end of the Archers. Still awaiting the big story. Nigel is talking about going up on the roof with David to take down the Happy New Year banner, but they've mentioned it too much for it to be one of them falling off. Surely.

shoot! They killed Nigel!

Leastways, he's fallen off the roof of a stately home. Can't see him coming back from that.

Phew. Thought they might be killing David off!

I need tea now.

So how many denizens of tea are watching the calories now that it's next year?

Or intending to, after the Bank Holiday.

<Raises hand> I will be cutting my intake to less than 5000* calories a day from Tuesday, want to be fighting fit come the Spring so I can go on a few CC rides and not be trailing too far towards the back

*approximate daily intake since November.

I am starting on Thursday. I think I have at least two stone to lose. Possibly nearer three stone.

However, I will not be calorie counting as such. The Weight Watcher's Plan is easier than that. Unlimited fruit and vegetables, (well, not twenty bananas for lunch  ) cutting out white bread, pastry etc etc, replacing with oats, wholegrain bread etc. I have almost completely avoided their branded foods, except for the nutty bar, which is very much like a tracker, only smaller.

I will also be taking more exercise.

I'm going to replace lunch with breakfast and cut down on dinner and cut out the snacking.

Just as soon as I have finished off the left over chocolate biscuits and Tunnocks teacakes tonight.

I'll be hoping to lose a stone or so myself.

A tip on the snacking front I find helped - don't get the whole packet of whatever it is out and sit it within reach. Get one biscuit, or a handful of nuts or crisps or whatever, and put it on a plate, and put the packet away. Makes it a bit easier to stop - and you still get a snack, just a little one and you have to make it last.

Also, when portioning out pasta or rice to cook, measure it out, then put some back. Just a little, you'll never actually notice once it's cooked.

Now, I just have to follow all that myself.

Good advice Arch. I'm sure it will work for anyone with a degree of willpower, unfortunately I find that the only way to stop snacking on that kind of stuff is to not buy it in the first place

If it's in the cupboard then the temptation to eat it is too great, I'll be stocking up on fruit instead and having that as my 'snack'
