I like a good read before bedtime, nothing too intelligent mind, bit of throwaway fiction or horror usually.
Every couple of years I get Lord of the Rings back out and read that, takes about a month per book

Right better drag myself off to work, the weather has forced me off the bike, rain I can handle but thunder, hailstone, and rain is a bit too much for me

Rain!

A friend came over to experience triking and trailer pulling as I am going to be building a trailer for him soon. After a long period of rain watching we finally had a non downpour 10 minutes where he was able to take the Rat'n'Tag for a spin.

He came back with a huge grin and the usual 'Used muscles I never knew I had' and exclaiming how much fun a trike is and how much room cars give.

He may well be a convert. I will make a trailer for his Brompton, first off, so he can get to the allotment with stuff to save using the car and then work on the recumbent trike aspect!

I will see if I can get him a go on a more sorted and smoother/freer running trike first though.

Nah, sell him the Rat and get yourself something smoother! ;)

How huge big are you going to make his trailer? Does he need to carry tools, or just a couple of hundredweight of courgettes?

We had one downpour today, just as I was riding over to the afternoon round, but then the sun came out very hot, and I dried out pretty quickly. But the dark cloud that pre-empted the downpour was impressively Biblical.

Tea?

Tea? Oh yes please. Got caught in the rain this morning. Felt as though someone had thrown a bucket of cold water down my back. For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

Potsy, I re-read LotR every couple of years as well. I try and do the books one year, the films the next. Not that I have no life or anything ... hmm, there's no Hobbit emoticon. It'll have to be this instead:

I can't sell him the Rat, it's valued in negative figures!

He says he needs a trailer that can carry three bags of compost. Doesn't help as it depends on the size of the bags. We ended up with something at about 1m long by 400mm wide at a guess. It will depend on the materials I can find as it will be a scrap built trailer. Possibly thin steel box or an aluminium ladder. I will probably aim for somethign with stakes in the corners to make sides or a frame to stop things falling off.

The rain this afternoon was mad. Massive drops in huges quatities with hail and thunder. It is still a bit wet out there.

coffeejo, I've borrowed your quote for my sig!

Oooh, Arch, go on then. This is the second time I've got up today. Still not made it out of my PJs though, but judging by the colour of the sky, it's going to chuck it down soon. I'm sure there's a by-law somewhere about not having to get dressed on a Thursday within two weeks of the summer solstice if it's going to rain.

A good day helping out a neighbour today. A brief run to the tip and then helping him get started laying a floor.

Looking forward to a rest now.

The car will be fixed and retested for it's MOT tomorrow morning and then I can have a restful weekend. I might even get the Marin out for a ride.

Time for a cuppa now.

Evening!

I've been to a concert, one of my workmates on piano, with friends on 'cello and guitar. Very good it was, although all unfamiliar 20th century stuff.

And in the interval, I did tea and coffee for the entire audience (about 40). At one point I started to go all Ealing Comedy Tea Lady and nearly poured tea into lined up cups in an endless stream.

The hard part was sneaking into the kitchenette (a room straight off the hall with open doors) just before the interval to get ready and then realising how much noise it would make filling the metal teapot from the urn. We had to wait for a crescendo.

Anyway, it was all good and there was cake too,

Bedtime now.

Night all!

Afternoon all.

I spent most of the afternoon drawing outlines for and roughly cutting out, milk bottle elephants, for an event at St Nicks tomorrow. Kids will, if the wish) do the neat cutting out, and decoration.

Tea?
