A ha!

Waterproof overtrousies, with frayed hems
and
Arch's bicycle tube bags

Is there a connection?^_^ yes

Yes, I knew you would guess, Arch.

Using the material from the trousers to line the bags. Waterproof trousers are quite wide. The outer fabric of mine is quite soft, but the inner layer is, I presume stronger. I am guessing it would be easier to use the larger fabric from trousers, rather than the umbrella fabric.

When I did my life-saving badge last century, yes we did use trousies as bouyancy aids.

Yes, we did that too!

There's quite a lot of fabric in an umbrella, but trousies is also an idea. It'll all depend what I find!

I really have become a weird old lady, fishing old brollies out of bins! I've only found a couple so far, both black, I'm looking forward to finding some coloured ones...

I can confirm that rhubarb crumble (homemade and including some oats in the crumble mix) is was excellent with lightly whipped fresh cream.^_^
Today was the official restart of healthy eating 2012 at chez Baggy. M'envious. Will have to make do with this delicious uncrumbly hot chocolate.

I'm guessing the connection is...Staples.
I have to say, I saw the handbag-related post yesterday, and my first thought was :-
"Imposter!! Who are you, and what have you done with Arch?"
I'm not certain that Our Favourite Pachydermophile has ever used a handbag...

I have so! I used it on Sunday. I carried it empty to a resturant, and then used it to store my hat and gloves while it hung on the back of my chair!

No, I do normally carry all my stuff in my pocketses.
