DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
I have no internet
I am on "borrowed" internet for a moment, gawd knows when Ill get mine back so I may be gone some time:cry:
Nihal.......if, living in India, you are anywhere near the TalkTalk call center, can you please pop in there and give them a slap from me. They are SO useless and unhelpful:cursing:
Bye for now......:hello::cry:

That is your fault for using TalkTalk - or rather NoTalkORWeb. Me, I'm on Be - it's a bit more expensive but I've got my own IP address and unlimited web use, which is unlimited.

Is Be more expensive that TalkTalk?

Be is good enough for us to use for a work connection as developers, runs 4 of us playing Battlefield 3 with 20ms ping too.

Are you on fiber or just copper

It's copper. Be run on an odd modulation/specification that generally means you have to run their routers. It's quite clever and something I believe O2 inherited before they got sold off.

FWIW, I get a solid 16.5 down, 1 up stream from BT. It's the best supplier in my area due to the limitations of the exchange, etc..

Copper - but close to an exchange which Be uses.

Well here is my quandry:

At the moment I am on BT for my phone and I pay £21 pcm including all calls anytime, which is nice coz I work from home and make a lot of calls. I get my Broadband from O2 the speed is 7.5mb down and 1mb up with unlimited downloads and costs £9.36 pcm and I have never had any problem with O2 at all So the total I pay at the moment is £30.36 pcm

The other day I was looking a Plusnet and noticed that they were doing fiber optic + Broadband for £23.49 pcm for that I would get 250GB download limit with 10.9mb up and 48mb down and if I take the anytime call package the phone inc rental will cost 12.99 pcm. So the total would be £36.48 pcm. I like the idea of having a fast upload speed as I do a lot of uploading to servers as part of my business and I also use online storage for an extra backup so it would speed that up as well.

So I had just about decided to go for fibre when plusnet go and anounce they are cutting the price of copper broadband by 50% for 12 months. So if I went for that I would get 60GB download limit 1mb up and 7.5 mb down so more or less the same as I get now the Broadband would be £9.24 pcm inc unlimited call package and the line retal would be £12.99. So a total of £22.23 making it £8.13 cheaper than I pay now.

So what to do

Two things to report about Bowen (i) the :cuppa: is still blue (ii) it was where they filmed sections of the Australia film with Nicole Kidman. Apparently it looks more like Darwin than Darwin does......I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Darwin was flattened by Cyclone Tracy in 1974. So Darwin still looks like itself, but it doesn't look like it did before 1974. Bits of Bowen look a bit like bits of Darwin did in WW2.

There are places in the UK like that, only I can't remember which places are involved - but they regularly use one to represent the other....

Just had some toast, and :cuppa:, and I'll be getting the train home later. Back to work tomorrow...
