Oh good, you can show me, it's something I've never actually done!;)

I know the principle. I also know more than I wish I did about stimulating the milk let down in primitive types.

Afternoon!

Just thinking about some lunch. Got a cold, so feel I should feed it. Well, it's a good excuse.;)

Shall I put the kettle on?

I'll join you there on the sick bench Arch- this year has been one full of colds and gripes!!
Must get better and stay better...more time on two wheels...hanging around CC asking for tea when I should be doing some work....procrastination central today!

I should have known I'd get a cold. First weekend in my new full time work regime when I haven't had something I must do. I always get a cold when I relax...

It's not awful, I had a sore throat yesterday, that was the worst bit, a blocked or runny nose I can live with. I'm hoping I'll feel back on form tomorrow, for work...

hmmm...Arch, sounds like you need to give yourself more of a break if it happens every time you relax - sounds as if you're used to operating on full throttle all the time so when you let yourself sit back, the body protests with all its stored ailments.

Hope you feel better soon!

It's not quite that bad - it's just something I've always done, get ill in the holidays - I had all the childhood stuff in the holidays, and only ever 3 days off work in 12 years, and the same throughout the last 10 years of studying... My Mum's the same.

And I'm pretty relaxed really, in comparison to most, it's just that I find much more minor things to 'stress' over - I guess that's the problem....

Anyway, that kettle....

I think I may comfort myself with instant noodles in cupasoup sauce.. Classy!

oh Arch. get some proper grub in you if you're not well! ahh the minor things aren't worth stressing over...stress really is about percieved ability to cope and also what we tell ourselves is stressful- I've stopped using the word stress - things are now a challenge or difficult. Helps me somewhat.

Though think for me there has been tons going on recently - so must eliminate the sources of stress in my life and also remember to not punish myself too much on the bike - must get balance there!

Oh, worry not, I'll have a proper dinner this evening - probably tuna and veg (courgettes, peppers, black olives) in a tomato sauce on spaghetti - the noodles and soup is my standard fall back easy nosh.

I suppose I was pretty stressed back in the summer, before I gave up the PhD, although I wasn't very busy (that was the problem, not doing anything). Now, I'm in full time work, so I'm 'busy' (ie can't nip to the bank/post office/out on the bike whenever I fancy), but not really stressed, because the job is more physical than mental and I work with a great bunch of people.

It occured to me earlier, standing on the escalator in M and A, that I'll be home for Christmas for 3 days in just over a month, which means seeing nephew Oli again (and handing over the Brio car transporter train I ordered online yesterday:biggrin:) Hoorah! Now, must check the train times...

Oli and I may fight over the trains. When I was down there visiting in October, he wouldn't let me or my sister put track together for him when he was playing with it (kept saying 'big boy!' meaning 'I can do it!'). Most of the time he only wanted one or two pieces of track to push a train back and forth on. As soon as he went out of the room to find something, or have a nappy change, I jumped in and made up a layout from all the track I could find! I always wanted a set when I was a kid, but never had one...

Funny, although he didn't want help putting it together, when he came back to find a complete layout, he was happy to play with it.

As well as the train, I've bought him a turntable - I think that was a bit because I kept thinking, Hmm, I need a turntable here really....

Arch, yes I think you need a turntable, and some sidings. A platform might be useful too. And a bridge to run cars over? and..

It must be a question of balance - he says "big boy" meaning he wants to do things himself, and his Mum will need him to do things on his own when his baby brother or sister arrives. As you said, he did not see you putting the track together, so he is happy with that.

You want 'Ah, bless him!'?

I know there must be a slight element of bias, but he is the most beautiful child ever...

I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to adore his sibling just as much when it arrives in March. Mind you, he's in the terrible twos now, so I gather he's not always so angelic...
