Taking the biscuit
It's the thrifty teat thread tonight!

I only wear black or grey clothes so I am impervious to washing machine disasters and I wear everything until they're threads.

That reminds me, I need to patch the hole in my 3/4 shorts.:angry:

Longers - Are all the clothes the same sort of fabric?

Did you know that Oxfam have an on-line second hand book shop, and that currently there is no postage charge for them. It suggests a donation for books according to their size.

If you search for Oxfam on line, I think you will get there, but I will pop off and check the address.

http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/second-hand-books

This gives you access to the thousands of books that are in Oxfam over the whole country.

I've got an excellent "new" green dressing gown and have 3 shirts, two trousers and three jumpers to do tomorrow. For twenty quids worth of dye and a quids worth of salt I'll have some smart new threads

Are you doing them all green? That reminds me of Mr Pooter in Dairy of a Nobody, when he paints everything with red enamel and then thinks he's bleeding to death when it melts off in the bath...

Sort of, all but one are 100 per cent cotton and it'll be interesting to see how that one turns out. I don't wear it as it is so there's nothing lost by trying.

The online s/h bookshop sounds good, I'll have look for that.

I have to be thrifty, I did some of next years shopping on Amazon.
I got some Flensted mobiles for birthday presents

I have been out on purpose on several occasions dressed from head to toe all in green clothes apart from my shoes. They are green velvet trousers, bought cheap because they were yellow and they got dyed.

But no, not going all green this time. The dressing gown is excellent though!

The thing to bear in mind with that site - is the search facility. Are you sitting comfortably?

Just say you start looking for a book by Michael Palin. The search wotsit takes you into the "Travel" section. If you then search for another book, saying basket weaving, it will stay in the Travel section. Where, as you may infer, basket weaving is not included.

Therefore start at the beginning for each search. This sounds complicated, but in practice, it is fairly straight-forward.

What, you mean they don't have "Basketweaving my way across Panama"? What kind of bookshop is that?

I've been out for a drink or 4 after work, and we've decided to go out for a meal too, so I've dashed home and cleaned up, and I'll be out again in half an hour... What a busy life!

Afternoon!

I've been on a spree with my Christmas money, and now have a nice red waterproof coat, a new pair of trainers, and a pair of brown jeans from M and S - they are in the "little bit tight, but I'm slimming" category... I also found a relatively recent OS landranger for Northallerton - the only corner around York I don't have yet - in a charity shop.

Having sushi for luch, then I have a massive laundry pile to tackle...

I have been on the look-out for a watch with a teddy bear on the face. ;) Found one in the Oxfam shop. It needs a new strap, but at one and a half earth pounds, (and someone getting a week's worth of rice) I am happy with that.

Also bought some ready made tape with poppers attached. I have put my
V shaped pillow on the sofa, and it is very comfy to lean against, but the current colour of the pillowcase does not blend very well with the decor of the lounge. How fussy is that? I will rummage in my collection of fabric remnants, and concoct my own. The dining room table now being clear enough for sewing projects to resume.

Arch, when you get round to casting for your version of "Day of the Triffids", can you bear me in mind for the part of Torrance. It would be easy enough to change the part for that of a female. I like the idea of charging around trying to look authoritarian in a long black coat, and making sandwiches in the kitchen at No. 10.:smile: Is there anything else I need to practice for the audition?
