All owls look like they are of generous proportions, but when you see the skeletons, they are shaped like any other bird....B)

Evenings. Just surfaced from a migraine in time to get to WW - now lost 23lbs in total. This is good. It's 23 less fat.

'kinada, WC. That's impressive. Well done!
I've gone up 4lbs since Christmas but I'm making an effort.

Ta. It's 23lbs in 9 weeks, so that's a decent average weight loss so far, I'm happy with that. It would have been even better if the class had been on over the Christmas & New Year, but as it wasn't and I didn't track everything then, I didn't lose. Was sensible so didn't put on.. but hey, the trend is onwards & downwards so that's ok.

Well Done The Incredible Shrinking Waffles!

Make sure there's enough of you left to visit.

Ta. No chance of me doing a Victoria Beckham stick insect impersonation, tdr1nka! There's still a lot of me left. A big lot! And I actually enjoy food. One of the reasons I enjoy WW, as I eat a shedload of food.

Has Speicher moved into any of your boxes yet?

I'll put the kettle on.

We haven't had any Speichers. But then these are designed specifically for Tytonidae tenants, not Strigidae. Strigidae are welcome, but there are other des reses designed with them in mind. They like less spacious surroundings. Tytonidae go for extensive views, light and air. Well, air anyway.

We have had bran wols in past years, but also jackdaws, stock doves and little owls. It's so hard to attract the right class of tenants...

Speaking of Tytonidae, I've had a Tyto alba flying alongside me (at my head height) as I cycled alonmg a local lane. It looked at me ... I looked at it. For about 100yards, then it went off in search of something more appealing to look at.

They are always curious. At one site I worked at, one used to come and hover over the bonnet of my truck and look at me through the windscreen while I had lunch.

Of course, the day he flew into my mist net was the day I was away doing something else, and my colleague ringed him. So unfair - it was my site and my bran wol!

Hares are the same. Park up and sit still in a field for any length of time within sight of one, and eventually he'll hop over and take a good look.

They don't blink often enough. It makes your eyes water in sympathy.

But they are one of my favourites too. They just lollop around, never doing anything much, but not bothering anyone either. They just get on with doing nothing.

(We've worked on them. We know what they do. And it's mostly nothing. They are surrounded by food and they don't really have homes - they just hang out wherever they happen to be. Why do anything? We could probably learn a lot from them).
