Thank you for asking Longers. Leo has perked up slightly. He is moving around reasonably well and able to use the flower bed by the back door, instead of the litter tray. His stitches have been removed, and the leg is healing up fairly well.

This morning I purchased some Kitty treats from the Pet Shop and explained about trying to get Leo to eat. The Pet Shop lady very kindly gave me some free samples of kitten food. It is apparently more calorie-laden than senior food for pussy cats, so if he just eats a bit, he will still get nutrition. He was well enough this afternoon to sit with me on the sofa and watch the Milan Sanremo race.

Tasha is a very very plump cat, so I have to be careful that the food I put out for Leo, is not consumed by Tasha instead. ;)

A very nice man from Adsa delivered my groceries this morning (special offer - free delivery) so I have on offer - Fox's biskits, banoffie pies (small) and profiteroles (small portions).

oooh, may I have a small portion of profiterole please?

Oh. That IS small.

Can I have a biscuit too?;)

Glad to hear Leo is perking up.

Afternoon all!

I was awake stupidly early today, so got up and went out and did 43 miles on the trike. Meant to do 50, but not having a computer, had to guess a route that would do it, and didn't quite get it right.

I saw a stoat cross the road. And had a toasted teacake with my tea at Thorp Arch.

I've made a dreadful domestic miscalculation though. Not wanting milk left over when I go away tomorrow, I bought a pint on Friday, and now, after cereal yesterday and porridge this morning, I've only got enough left for one cuppa.

Do I have it now? Or tomorrow morning? I mean I can have tea, but all but one cup will have to be black...

Be a devil, push the boat out and go and get another pint!!!!

But then it'll be mostly wasted!

Oh, I caused great hilarity on the Thorp Arch cycle path. I saw one guy coming towards me, on the wrong side, waving like mad and weaving about and grinning and calling back over his shoulder in foreign (he looked Middle Eastern, Turkish perhaps, or maybe Eastern European). As he got to me, he pulled right over to his right, so we passed wrong side to wrong side. I called out "Wrong side!" (with a smile) and gestured and he grinned and shouted something that might have been sorry.

Then his 8 or 9 mates came round the corner, all also grinning and shouting and looking foreign, and in one case, aiming a camera at me! But they were all on the right side.

They were all on identical bikes (MTBish), so I think they must have been a group on an outing on hire bikes...

And then after they passed, there was the one bringing up the rear, looking less chuffed, and wobbling a lot - I suspect he hadn't ridden a bike for a long time, if ever!

Later on I met a lady with a golden retriever, and stopped to let it have a good look at me (and avoided getting my face licked), and then nearly home, I found myself behind a pair of horseriders, and they saw me and speeded up to a trot, so I just sat some distance back and followed slowly for a mile or so until they found a place to pull over and turn the horses so that they could see me properly as I passed, so we all exchanged cheery greetings.

Do you have room in the freezer for part of a pint? I've got into the habit of freezing milk if I don't think I'll get it all used.

I do wish I'd thought of that earlier while I was out...

Shops are shut now. Well, the Sainsburys on Bootham will be open, but I can't be arsed.

Will have a proper cuppa after I've washed up, then black tea tomorrow, or, shock horror, maybe coffee. I don't have an early start, my train isn't until 10.30.

Hope you have a good visit Arch.

Add a note to that - especially treacle sponge.

And there is a really lovely stretch of cycle path leading to the retail park, from the Wetherby direction. Old railway, wooded each side, really gorgeous in sun as the light filters through the trees. And a good surface. It's a bit bizarre, because it ends up in this odd little out of the way retail park and industrial estate - home to both a branch of Cyclesense, and the northern arm of the British Library!

Eventually, apparently, the route will link right through to York, and up to Harrogate.
