Tea? (Part 2)

Peace is shattered. The first roar of afterburners overhead for days...

Evening all.

Today we had a new fire place and gas fire fitted. Turns out the 1950's builders put down the floorboards before the old fireplace and they didn't fit them right up to the underlying hearth. Just covered the gaps with the overhang of the old fireplace. So now we have gaping holes around the new one and I'm forced to do some woodwork sometime.

But as the weather has been excellent I've been in the garden cuttiing grass, sweeping out the alleyway digging a patch for veg and planting beetroot, carrotts and lettuce as well as admiring my pond - which is in excellent condition. I can see right down into the depths and watch newts newting

Two eggs collected this morning from The Laydeez. Planted some lamb's lettuce seeds and some cavolo nero seeds.

All is well (apart from my knees)

We just had a break from work to watch the Hi-Ab lorry unload a couple of containers into the carpark behind our office. All very exciting.

reminds me of when a truck was pulling a tree out of next door's garden*.

Yes, the earth did move!!!

* For those of a sensitive nature, it was a very ugly tree, and was replaced with a smaller, prettier tree.

I suspect you understand the interest in watching a crane work, however small...

We had a mini digger at my other workplace on Tuesday, skimming an area to be gravelled and then loading barrowloads of gravel to be spread. I was helping after we finished work, and the driver loaded a barrow for me like the rest, a heaped bucketful.

He watched me lift that barrow, my arms almost out of their sockets, and after that, whenever it was my turn, he only loaded it with a half bucketful... Bless him.
