I have been out in the garden tucking fleece round one of my large shrubs. The temperature here last night was minus 7. It is a well established plant that is fairly unusual, so I am molly coddling it, and the baby plantlets next to it. I hope they appreciate the Tlc they get.

One of the men working on the block paving in the garden opposite is wearing shorts. They are long shorts, that end just above the knee, but even so.. :cold:

Ian - Has Henry got some furry boots for going out in this weather?

You could have a hot bath in tea....

I've been out braving the St Nicholas Fayre crowds today, and got a bit more christmas shopping done - although not very helpfully, it's mostly for Oli, who already has one perfectly good present... He's just so easy to buy for. Maybe I should save something for his February 'unbirthday'.

Still have no idea about what to get my brother in law, or his Mum, without resorting to generic 'gifts for him' and old lady toiletries.

Came home from the works meal last night in a gentle blizzard (can a blizzard be gentle? We don't really have a word for snow coming down heavily, but vertically in still air..), anyway, it was beautiful, few people about even at pub/club transition time, and very little traffic, all going very slowly. The Minster area was serene. I stood on the corner of my road for a moment, watching the flakes flutter down, with the Minster in the background, in virtual silence. Then I went indoors, and when I took my hat off, a big dollop of snow landed on the carpet
This morning was clear and sunny, and cold, but now I'm back home, it's clouded over, and there's white stuff coming down again....

Text from my sister this morning - they've not had any snow yet, but have bought a sledge. And Oli is practising carols for his nursery nativity. I nearly cried at the thought of that, it's so sweet. I wonder if he'll be wearing a teatowel...

Tea anyone?

I'll have a tea please Arch.

No snow in sight down south but the outside temperature at our session this morning was one half a degree above zero.
I wore 2 pairs of gloves, fleecy bib longs, windproof trousers, 2 tshirts(1 long sleeved), 2fleece cycling jerseys, windproof jacket, a stood, a wooly hat and 3 pairs of gloves.
And it was still cold....
