That's something I experienced when I did two 57min 25's a couple of years ago on an undulating course. Both races were on warm sunny evenings but the effort had taken so much out of me that you would have thought that I was on the North Pole in Winter for about an hour afterwards. When you go under the hour on a course that isn't a pan flat dragstrip both the mental and the physical effort can be quite intense.
