Todays Greek word is

Καλημέρα (Kal E mer ah) Note the stress mark on the 'e', which means the 'mer' is said more loudly.

'Καλημέρα' means 'Good morning'. :hello:
Good mornin' @Blue :hello:

:wahhey:Hoorah! and Bally Hoo!! just got an email confirming I've passed my Leadership assignment!!! :wahhey:

Passed at P4 grade (whatever that means!) If I'd balanced it a bit more toward theory I would have got a distinction - but I don't care, I've passed something!!!!!

Having a Blueberry Muffin to celebrate.

Yeah, packed in the TT's as my increasing age was preventing decreasing times!!

My club has an average speed based Gold, Silver, Bronze medal award system and I held on until I achieved a little target which was to become the first person aged 60+ to get above Bronze. I reached 60 last year, got the Silver and retired!! The club courses are tough so it was no mean achievement.

I always train on the turbo in the winter as I use power to measure effort and I train 6 days a week. I still train hard for fitness sake but I've dropped the intervals as they were taking too much out of me - too many birthdays, as they say!

That looks quite similar to good evening, is it one of those languages where a slight change in pronunciation can make a big difference?
Very much so.
What looks like a French accent is called a stress mark and it's found in all multi syllable words to show which part of a word is stressed. The position of the stress can completely change the meaning of similar words. I will cover things like that in future lessons.

You are correct to notice that the first two words are similar and that is an issue I was going to mention later. The Greek word for 'good' in the feminine gender is 'καλή' . The Greek word for day is μέρα, which is a feminine noun. They are put together with only one stress to produce a separate word/expression.

Gold star to this student
