I think I timed it well today heading back from dads. All the signs warning of loose chippings were in place but they hadn’t started. It will be done in the next day or two by the looks of it.
Looking at your profile from today, is it all hilly in Bonny Perthshire?
I can hear a farmer with a tractor on the lane. I think they are cutting the verges and the hedges. I will have to be careful of thorns for a while i think.
Local back roads got the grass barums cut recently, I always just turn back if its hedgerow..
Bit early, still nesting season still.
September by law up here I think
Yes I have heard the justification of the highways department saying it prolongs the life of the road and cost something like 20% of the cost of resurfacing.
Bloody horrible stuff and you don't want to be riding your bike over it for a while and also pays to avoid it in the car.
Mr Choo on a Fat Bike?
I would have thought that, but is it always respected??
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody tours around looking for violations, esp these birdy folks.. Sustrans on our local NCN75 are cutting(geddit?) back on the grass cutting and highlighting path entrances, seated areas and sculpture to be cut...to let wild flowers flourish. Good excuse, folk aren't too happy about the overgrowth in sections.

Difficult to avoid on most routes. I hate the climb up the Gask Brae. It has a sign at the bottom says 20%. Don’t think it’s that but it is a bit steep when you’re carrying a bit of lard and the old legs aren’t what they were. Lol.

Given the size of the fine, which includes the loss of payment for not cutting them, you'd think they'd stick to the agreed date.

I reported the local council for early cutting, some years ago. If it wasn't for the attitude of the idiot doing it(What do you know about it?), I'd probably not have bothered. Parked up in front, so he'd to stop, whilst reporting him.

End of August(last full week) sticks in my mind.

Seen more fights between farmers over early trimming. Moreso when there's a dispute already running, or a new un to the area.
